Struktur keluarga di era modern tidak lagi berpaku pada bentuk konservatif yang hanya mengedepankan nilai-nilai tradisional. Alasannya karena mulai banyak perubahan terutama pada masyarakat Jerman yang sudah mengacu pada karakteristik growth mindset dan money economy. Hal ini tentu berdampak pada masyarakat yang tinggal di ruang urban, sehingga mampu merepresentasikan keluarga progresif. Wacana tersebut akan dibahas melalui film Vaterfreuden (2014), di mana keluarga progresif dalam film mempresentasikannya dari sisi ayah dan ibu, sebagai upaya tokoh utama dalam menjalankan kehidupan berkeluarga sesuai dengan tujuan progresif. Dengan demikian, penelitian kali ini akan menjelaskan melalui teori Representasi oleh Stuart Hall, seperti apa karakteristik keluarga progresif yang ada dalam film serta melihat kemungkinan relasinya dengan komunitas Vaterfreuden. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa prinsip dari keluarga progresif dapat terlihat dari gambaran tokoh utama dan keluarga progresif dari segi imajiner memiliki relasi dengan komunitas Vaterfreuden.

The family structure in the modern era is no longer based on conservative forms that only prioritize traditional values. The main reason is that many changes have begun, especially in German society, which has already referred to the characteristics of a growth mindset and money economy. This certainly has an impact on people who live in urban spaces, so they are able to represent progressive families. This discourse can be seen through the film Vaterfreuden (2014), in which the progressive family represents it from the father's and mother's side, as the main character's efforts to carry out family life in accordance with progressive goals. Thus, this research will explain through Stuart Hall's Representational theory, what are the characteristics of progressive families in films and examine their possible relationships with the Vaterfreuden community. The results of this study indicate that the principle of the progressive family can be seen from the depiction of the main character and the imaginary perspective of the progressive family having a relationship with the Vaterfreuden community.
