Tesis ini membahas tentang proses pembentukan Taman Baca Masyarakat yang dijadikan rintisan modal sosial masyarakat Kota tangerang Selatan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dan jenis penelitian deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa program Taman Baca Masyarakat dibentuk atas inisiatif masyarakat yang dipelopori oleh organisasi masyarakat Magma. Faktor yang mendukung berkembangnya Taman Baca ini adalah tingginya minat baca masyarakat terutama anak usia dini. Sedangkan faktor yang menjadi hambatan pendirian Taman Baca ini adalah belum adanya sumber daya yang terampil dan khusu untuk mengelola Taman Baca tersebut.

This thesis discusses the process of formation Parks Community Reading made ??pioneering social capital South Tangerang City. This study used a qualitative approach and descriptive research. The research concludes that the Community Reading Garden program established at the initiative of the community, spearheaded by Magma community organizations. In the formation of this organization invites the public to form a park Read in every district in South Tangerang City. In his process activities performed at Yosemite Read not only as a place to get a reading resources, but also as a place or a place for people to do various activities. Factors that support the development of this park is the high Read public interest especially early childhood. Besides South Tangerang mayor also took the initiative to develop the reading garden. While the factors that become barriers to the establishment of park Read is the absence of skilled resources and specific to managing the park Read that activities carried out yet right on target as a function of the public library.
