Pendahuluan : Infertilitas laki-laki dapat disebabkan adanya gangguan penurunan konsentrasi spermatozoa (oligozoospermia), penurunan motilitas (astenozoospermia) dan bentuk (morfologi) yang abnormal (teratozoospermia). Selain itu juga dapat berasal dari multifaktor termasuk Radical Oxidative Stress (ROS) dimana terjadi ketidakseimbangan antara sistem pro dan antioksidan dalam semen. Tatalaksana saat ini adalah terapi konvensional berupa terapi hormonal dan non-hormonal micronutrient setiap hari selama 72-90 hari dengan analisis spermatozoa setiap 1 bulan sekali, serta tekhnik reproduksi berbantu. Elektroakupunktur dapat dipertimbangkan menjadi salah satu terapi oligozoospermia.Tujuan dari penelitian ini membuktikan elektroakupunktur dengan terapi standar mampu mempengaruhi oligozoospermia dan mempengaruhi kadar SOD plasma semen dan spermatozoa.Metode : Uji klinis acak tersamar ganda dengan kontrol terapi standar. Diikuti 48 pasien oligozoospermia yang dilakukan secara acak ke dalam kelompok perlakuan (n=24) dan kontrol (n=24). Kelompok perlakuan mendapatkan elektroakupunktur dan terapi standar serta kelompok kontrol mendapatkan terapi standar. Elektroakupunktur dilakukan 2 kali seminggu selama 6 minggu dengan total sebanyak 1 seri terapi (12 kali).Hasil : Konsentrasi spermatozoa dan volume total ejakulat pada kelompok perlakuan memiliki hasil yang lebih baik (p > 0,005). Penurunan rata rata SOD plasma semen dan SOD spermatozoa yang lebih besar pada kelompok perlakuan. (p > 0,005)Kesimpulan : Kombinasi elektroakupunktur dan terapi standar dapat memperbaiki konsentrasi spermatozoa, volume total ejakulat berdasarkan hasil analisis spermatozoa serta menurunkan SOD pada plasma semen dan spermatozoa namun tidak signifikan secara statistik.

Introduction: Male infertility can be caused by the decrease of sperm concentration (oligozoospermia), motility (asthenozoospermia) and abnormal morphology (teratozoospermia). The etiologi comes from multiple factors such as Radical Oxidative Stress (ROS) where there is an imbalance level of Free Radical and Antioxidant in the semen. Current treatment consists of daily hormonal therapy and micronutrient therapy for 72-90 days, and Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART). The goal is to improve the value of Semen Analysis each month. Electroacupuncture is considered as Adjuvant Therapy for oligozoospermia. The aim of this study is to prove that electroacupuncture can help current treatment to improve the result for patients with oligozoospermia and their SOD level in semen and sperm.

Methods: Randomized double-blind clinical trial with standard therapy control. 48 oligozoospermia patients were followed who were randomized into treatment (n=24) and control (n=24) groups. The treatment group received electroacupuncture and standard therapy and the control group received standard therapy. Electroacupuncture is performed 2 times a week for 6 weeks for a total of 1 series of therapy (12 treatments).

Results: Spermatozoa concentration and total ejaculate volume in the treatment group had better results (p > 0.005). The average decrease in semen plasma SOD and spermatozoa SOD was greater in the treatment group. (p > 0.005)

Conclusion: The combination of electroacupuncture and standard therapy can improve sperm concentration and reduce SOD in sperm and seminal plasma unsignificantly statistically.
