Melihat keberhasilan representasi perempuan, salah satu langkahnya adalah melalui angka keterwakilannya dalam pemilihan umum dan faktor pendukungnya ialah sistem elektoral dari negara tersebut. Indonesia menganut sistem pemilihan legislatif proporsional terbuka yang menaruh kebebasan untuk masyarakat dalam memilih calon legislatifnya. Akan tetapi, sistem ini memiliki kelemahan bagi representasi perempuan, terutama bagi mereka yang tidak memiliki relasi dengan tokoh politik tertentu. Mengambil studi kasus dari Partai Nasdem, partai ini muncul sebagai partai baru yang resmi mengikuti Pemilu tahun 2014. Pada tahun 2019, Partai Nasdem berhasil mendapatkan angka keterpilihan caleg perempuan terbanyak. Namun, nyatanya caleg-caleg perempuan dari Nasdem memiliki latar belakang yang memanfaatkan dinasti politik mereka. Hadirnya caleg perempuan yang memiliki hubungan kekerabatan berpotensi untuk merugikan bagi caleg perempuan yang tidak memilikinya. Menggunakan teori modal sosial dari Robert D. Putnam, modal ini merupakan modal yang melekat dalam hubungan antar individu dan memungkinkan seseorang yang memiliki sedikit relasi bisa mendapatkan keuntungan dari komunitas yang memiliki koneksi yang erat. Dalam upaya untuk mendefinisikan lebih jauh mengenai modal sosial, penulis juga menggunakan jenis modal sosial dari Putnam, yaitu bonding social capital. Jenis penelitian dalam tulisan ini menggunakan penelitian kualitatif dengan data sekunder. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan ada beberapa tantangan yang dihadapi oleh caleg perempuan dari Partai Nasdem. Pertama adalah tahap rekrutmen dari partai yang lebih menitikberatkan kepada caleg-caleg yang memiliki modal sosial. Kedua dalam tahapan Daftar Calon Tetap (DCT), caleg yang berasal dari dinasti politik dan memiliki relasi dengan intrapartai cenderung ditempatkan di nomor strategis.

Looking at the success of women's representation, one step is through their representation figures in general elections and the supporting factor is the country's electoral system. Indonesia adheres to an open proportional legislative election system which provides freedom for the people to choose their legislative candidates. However, this system has weaknesses for women's representation, especially for those who do not have relationships with certain political figures. Taking a case study from the Nasdem Party, this party emerged as a new party that officially participated in the 2014 elections. In 2019, the Nasdem Party succeeded in getting the highest number of female legislative candidates elected. However, in fact the female legislative candidates from Nasdem have a background that takes advantage of their political dynasty. The presence of female legislative candidates who have kinship relationships has the potential to be detrimental to female legislative candidates who do not have them. Using the social capital theory of Robert D. Putnam, this capital is capital that is inherent in relationships between individuals and allows someone who has few relationships to benefit from a community that has close connections. In an effort to further define social capital, the author also uses Putnam's type of social capital, namely bonding social capital. The type of research in this paper uses qualitative research with secondary data. The results of this research show that there are several challenges faced by female legislative candidates from the Nasdem Party. First is the party recruitment stage which focuses more on legislative candidates who have social capital. Second, in the Permanent Candidate List (DCT) stage, legislative candidates who come from political dynasties and have intra-party relations tend to be placed in strategic numbers.
