Salah satu sumber informasi digital yang akhir-akhir ini sangat masif digunakan oleh banyak orang termasuk kalangan mahasiswa adalah chatbot AI seperti ChatGPT, Gemini, Microsoft Bing AI/Copilot, humata, dan Perplexity.AI. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi perilaku pencarian dan hambatan mahasiswa sarjana tingkat akhir UI dalam memanfaatkan chatbot AI. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa semua informan melakukan pencarian informasi di chatbot AI untuk menemukan referensi terkait topik penelitian tugas akhir atau skripsi sebagai syarat kelulusannya. Penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa setiap langkah dalam model pencarian David Ellis, dkk, chatbot AI selalu berperan membantu para informan untuk melakukan pencarian informasi terkait referensi literatur penelitian yang berupa teks paragraf dan jurnal. Namun, dalam praktek pencarian informasi di chatbot AI informan menghadapi berbagai hambatan yang berasal dari fisiologis, kognitif, dan karakter emosional. Selain itu, ada juga hambatan yang berasal dari karakteristik sumber informasi.

One of the digital information sources that has recently been massively used by many people including students is chatbot AI such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Microsoft Bing AI/Copilot, humata, and Perplexity.AI. This study aims to explore the search behavior and barriers of UI final-year undergraduate students in utilizing chatbot AI. This study used qualitative approach with qualitative descriptive methods. The results of this study show that all informants conducted information searches on chatbot AI to find references related to the research topic of their final project or thesis as a requirement for graduation. This study shows that every step in the David Ellis, et al. search model, chatbot AI always play a role in helping informants to search for information related to research literature references in the form of text paragraphs and journals. However, in the practice of searching for information on AI chatbots, informants face various barriers originating from physiological, cognitive, and emotional characteristics. In addition, there are also obstacles that arise from the characteristics of information sources.
