Peran Mediasi Regulasi Emosi dalam Hubungan antara Kualitas Tidur dan Burnout Akademik pada Mahasiswa = The Mediating Role of Emotion Regulation in the Relationship Between Sleep Quality and Academic Burnout in College Students

 Abstract

Banyaknya tekanan akademik yang dimiliki mahasiswa membuat mahasiswa cenderung mengalami burnout akademik. Salah satu faktor yang sering dikaitkan dengan terjadinya burnout akademik adalah kualitas tidur yang dimiliki mahasiswa. Penelitian mengenai hubungan antara kualitas tidur dan burnout akademik telah banyak ditemukan, namun mediator potensial dari hubungan ini masih jarang dibahas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat peran mediasi regulasi emosi, yakni cognitive reappraisal dan expressive suppression, dalam hubungan antara kualitas tidur dan burnout akademik pada mahasiswa. Penelitian ini dilakukan kepada 240 mahasiswa aktif di Indonesia dengan rentang usia 18-24 tahun yang diperoleh dengan menggunakan metode convenience sampling. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan mencakup Academic Burnout Scale (ABS), translasi dari Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), dan translasi dari Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (ERQ). Hasil analisis menggunakan PROCESS Hayes menunjukkan tidak adanya peran yang signifikan dari mediasi cognitive reappraisal dan expressive suppression dalam hubungan antara kualitas tidur dan burnout akademik. Meski demikian, penelitian ini mempertegas adanya hubungan yang kuat antara kualitas tidur dan burnout akademik pada mahasiswa.

The academic pressure faced by students often leads to academic burnout. One of the factors commonly associated with academic burnout is the quality of sleep among students. It is well established that poor sleep quality directly increases academic burnout, but potential mediators of this relationship remain poorly understood. This study aims to examine the mediating role of emotion regulation, specifically cognitive reappraisal and expressive suppression, in the relationship between sleep quality and academic burnout among students. The study involved 240 active students in Indonesia aged 18-24, selected through convenience sampling. Research instruments included the Academic Burnout Scale (ABS), a translated version of the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), and a translated version of the Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (ERQ). Analysis using the PROCESS by Hayes revealed no significant mediating role of cognitive reappraisal and expressive suppression in the relationship between sleep quality and academic burnout. Nevertheless, the study reinforces the strong relationship between sleep quality and academic burnout among students.
