Penelitian ini mengeksplorasi pengalaman tiga transpuan dalam lingkungan Gereja Protestan di tiga gereja berbeda, yaitu Gereja Y, Gereja Z. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis bagaimana identitas gender para transpuan ini dipersepsikan, diakui, dan dihadapi dalam konteks religius yang seringkali patriarkis dan heteronormatif. Metode yang digunakan adalah Narrative analysis dimana penelitian ini menganalisis secara mendalam terhadap isi dan bentuk kisah yang disampaikan oleh transpuan dan pendeta. Hasil temuan data penelitian ini bahwa pendeta dan gereja X, Y, dan Z memiliki perlakuan berbeda-beda terhadap transpuan. Secara keseluruhan, penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa meskipun ada upaya untuk memberikan dukungan dan ruang bagi transpuan dalam gereja, norma-norma heteronormatif dan patriarkal tetap menjadi hambatan utama yang perlu diatasi

This study explores the experiences of three transgender women within Protestant Church environments in three different churches, namely Church Y, Church Z. The purpose of this research is to analyze how the gender identities of these transgender women are perceived, recognized, and addressed within a religious context that is often patriarchal and heteronormative. The method used is narrative analysis, where this research deeply examines the content and form of stories conveyed by the transgender women and the pastors. The findings indicate that pastors and churches X, Y, and Z have varying approaches towards transgender women. Overall, the research shows that although there are efforts to provide support and space for transgender women within the church, heteronormative and patriarchal norms remain the main obstacles that need to be overcome.
