Penelitian ini membahas film The Lobster (2015) karya Yorgos Lanthimos yang dikategorikan sebagai film distopia. Dengan menggunakan teori film dan konsep distopia, strategi naratif film The Lobster menunjukkan bahwa film ini tidak menggambarkan sebuah dunia apocalypse atau teknologi yang futuristik dalam membangun latar distopianya. Dunia pada film ini digambarkan seperti halnya masyarakat masa kini. Hal utama yang mengkonstruksi latar distopia pada film ini adalah pengaturan terhadap seksualitas masyarakat. Analisis dengan konsep kekuasaan dan wacana seksualitas Foucault menunjukkan bahwa hal film ini merupakan sebuah sindiran atau kritik terhadap pengaturan pernikahan. Film ini juga berusaha menunjukkan bahwa ideologi konservatisme akan seksualitas yang ‘sehat’ pada abad ke 18 dan 19 masih ada hingga kini dan menyebabkan hirarki dan diskriminasi.

This research is an analysis of the text of the film that discusses The Lobster (2015) by Yorgos Lanthimos which is categorized as a dystopian film. Analysis using film theory and the concept of dystopia, the narrative strategy of The Lobster shows that this film does not depict an apocalyptic world or futuristic technology in constructing its dystopian setting. The world in this film is depicted like today's society. The main thing that constructs the dystopian setting in this film is the control of the sexuality. This film also shows the contestation of sexuality discourse which is depicted in the three dominant settings of the film, namely the city, the hotel, and the forest. Analysis with Foucault’s concept of and sexuality discourse shows that sexuality is a practice of power to discipline society. The results of this study also show that the film The Lobster is a satire or criticism of marriage arrangements. The film The Lobster tries to show that the ideology of conservatism of 'healthy' sexuality in the 18th and 19th centuries still exists today and causes hierarchy and discrimination.
