Laboratorium adalah sektor jasa yang berperan penting dalam penyediaan data ilmiah. Selain validitas hasil uji, dalam kegiatan operasionalnya laboratorium juga berkaitan dengan aspek lingkungan. Belum efektifnya pengelolaan lingkungan oleh laboratorium dapat menimbulkan dampak negatif dan meningkatkan risiko pencemaran. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis pengaruh penerapan SML ISO 14001 pada kinerja lingkungan, menganalisis partisipasi karyawan, dan menentukan faktor kunci yang mempengaruhi penerapan SML di laboratorium serta menyusun rekomendasi strategi untuk meningkatkan efektivitas penerapan standar ini dalam organisasi laboratorium. Metode yang digunakan untuk menentukan prioritas strategi yang diusulkan adalah metode AHP. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan SML ISO 14001 berpengaruh positif pada kinerja lingkungan. Tingkat partisipasi karyawan dalam implementasi SML berada pada kategori sedang. Faktor kunci yang mempengaruhi penerapan SML di laboratorium adalah penerapan sistem manajemen lain yang diintegrasikan dan adanya persyaratan pelanggan. Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah memaksimalkan identifikasi risiko, mengembangkan inovasi serta meningkatkan program pengelolaan lingkungan secara komprehensif serta diikuti dengan pengembangan dan pemberdayaan SDM menjadi prioritas strategi yang direkomendasikan untuk meningkatkan efektivitas penerapan SML di laboratori.

The laboratory is an important service sector for providing scientific data. In addition to the validity of the test results, in its operational activities the laboratory is also related to environmental aspects. Ineffective environmental management in the laboratory can have the negative impact and increase the risk of pollution.This study was conducted to analyze the effect of ISO 14001 implementation on environmental performance, analyze the employee participation and determine the key factors that influence the implementation of EMS in the laboratory so that the recommendation could proposed to improve the effectiveness of ISO 14001 application in the laboratory context. The method used to determine the priority of the proposed strategy is AHP. The results showed that the application of EMS ISO 14001 in the laboratory has a positive effect on environmental performance. The level of employee participation in EMS implementation is in the medium category. The key factors that influence the success implementing EMS in the laboratory are the  implementation of other integrated management systems and customer requirements. The priority of recommended strategy to increase the effectiveness of EMS implementation is maximize the risk identification, develop innovation and improve comprehensive management programs followed by the development and empowerment of human resource.
