Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is an assessment of the life cycle of a product. In architecture, the use of LCA is still quite new. As an architect it is enough to understand LCA through simplified LCA theory. The application of LCA in the building industry can include evaluating manufacturing processes, comparing several materials and methods, and analyzing a building as a whole. The LCA theories presented in this thesis describe the different types and methods of LCA. There is a simple theory of how LCA is calculated. The architectural definition is explained in order to get LCA connectedness in architecture. The case study taken is in the form of a comparison of the GWP (Global Warming Potential) of materials that can be compared apples-to-apples.
