 Abstract

Ostomates face spiritual challenges that affect their connection to the transcendent and the meaning of life. This study analyzes the relationship between spiritual well-being and self-efficacy in stoma care among 109 ostomates using a cross-sectional design with the Spiritual Well-Being Scale (SWBS) and the Stoma Self-Efficacy Scale (SSES). Bivariate analysis was conducted using the Chi-Square test. The majority of respondents had moderate levels of spiritual well-being and self-efficacy (99.1%; 77.1%). Spiritual well-being comprises two main domains, namely religious well-being and existential well-being, both of which were predominantly in the moderate category (94.5% and 100%). There was no significant relationship between spiritual well-being and self-efficacy. There was a significant relationship between religious well-being and self-efficacy (p = 0.038). Therefore, facilitating patients' connection with God and supporting the meaning of life should be a primary consideration in providing nursing care to ostomates.
