Skripsi ini menelusuri perubahan ide batas dalam domestisitas yang meluas dan berkembang dengan metode penulisan berupa studi literatur. Domestisitas tidak lagi terbatas oleh dinding rumah tetapi melampaui struktur fisik. Batas menjadi pembentuk kualitas atas konteks atau ruang domestik. Penelusuran ini menggunakan studi kasus yang terbentuk atas perluasan domestisitas, yaitu terkait kegiatan domestik dan bekerja serta hubungan rumah ke kota. Batas, berupa ambang, permukaan, dan objek, menjadi bagian dari transformasi saat mendapatkan kepemilikan yang sementara (temporal ownership). Kepemilikan yang sementara berupa sense of home terbentuk atas okupasi dan transformasi. Transformasi menjadi temporal karena susunan ulang yang diokupasi secara sementara merespon kondisi ruang publik yang terus berubah. Transformasi melihat kualitas ruang domestik sebagai batas yang dapat disusun ulang dan dimaknai berbeda. Penelusuran menunjukkan bahwa batas hadir sebagai demonstrasi kepemilikan yang sementara sehingga dapat membentuk dan mempertahankan kualitas ruang domestik melalui transformasi temporal.

This thesis explores the shifting idea of boundaries within an expanding and evolving domesticity domesticity through a literature-based study. Domesticity is no longer confined by the walls of the house but extends beyond physical structures. Boundaries create the qualities that define domestic contexts or spaces. This investigation draws upon a case study shaped by the expansion of domesticity, particularly through the relation of domestic and working activities and the connection between the home and the city. Boundaries, in the form of thresholds, surfaces, and objects, become sites of transformation when they find a place of temporal ownership. This temporal ownership manifested as a sense of home, arises through occupation and transformation. Temporal transformation reconfigures domestic arrangements to respond to the shifting conditions of public space. It reframes the qualities of domestic space as boundaries that can be reorganized and reinterpreted. The study reveals that boundaries emerge as a demonstration of temporal ownership that can both alter and maintain the quality of domestic space through temporal transformation.
