Tulisan ini membahas mengenai penyusunan narasi arsitektur berbasis pemahaman akan unseen places. Selain itu, tulisan ini mengeksplorasi pemahaman creative framing sebagai pendekatan penyusunan ulang narasi berbasis unseen places tersebut. Skripsi ini mengkaji peranan dan bentuk kehadiran unseen places sebagai bagian dari arsitektur naratif. Narasi arsitektur tersusun dari elemen seen dan unseen dalam arsitektur yang dialami secara subjektif melalui mental map dan spatial imagination. Kehadiran unseen places kemudian termanifestasi secara beragam, melalui aspek spasial yang intangible, fragmented, dan tersembunyi sebagai bygone places ataupun tersisa sebagai traces. Skripsi ini mengkaji lebih lanjut terkait mekanisme creative framing yang memungkinkan penyusunan ulang aspek seen dari unseen places dalam perubahan narasi arsitektur. Penulisan ini mengeksplorasi unseen places dan bagaimana rekonstruksi narasi arsitektur dapat dilakukan melalui penyusunan ulang aspek unseen dalam ruang melalui pengamatan terhadap film The Terminal (2004). Analisis dilakukan melalui penelusuran bagaimana creative framing oleh tokoh dalam The Terminal melakukan manipulasi spasial terhadap ruang tersebut, dan bagaimana tokoh tersebut menghadirkan perubahan batasan narasi seen dari unseen places yang hadir. Hasil dari studi kasus yang dilakukan menunjukkan bahwa narasi spasial yang hadir dalam sebuah tempat dapat dipetakan melalui memahami variasi elemen unseen yang hadir. Manipulasi spasial menciptakan narasi spasial baru yang kemudian dianggap menjadi seen, sementara menghadirkan batasan dapat mengubah posisi seen dan unseen dalam naratif. Studi ini memperdalam tentang creative framing sebagai mekanisme rekonstruksi narasi arsitektur dengan menggunakan pemahaman aspek seen dan unseen dalam arsitektur.

This paper discusses the reconstruction of architectural narrative based on the understanding of unseen places. Furthermore, it explores creative framing as an approach to reconfigure narratives derived from these unseen places. This study examines the role and forms of presence of unseen places as part of narrative architecture. Architectural narrative consists of both seen and unseen elements, experienced subjectively through mental maps and spatial imagination. The presence of unseen places is manifested in various ways—through spatial aspects that are intangible, fragmented, and hidden, appearing as bygone places or remaining as traces. This paper further investigates the mechanisms of creative framing, which enable the reconfiguration of seen aspects from unseen places in the transformation of architectural narrative. This study explores unseen places and how the reconstruction of architectural narrative can be achieved through the rearrangement of unseen aspects within space, observed through the film The Terminal (2004). The analysis traces how the character in The Terminal uses creative framing to perform spatial manipulation, and how the character redefines the narrative boundaries of the seen from the presence of unseen places. The findings from the case study show that spatial narrative within a place can be mapped by understanding the variations of unseen elements present. Spatial manipulation creates new spatial narratives that are then perceived as seen, while the act of defining boundaries can shift the positions of seen and unseen within the narrative. This study deepens the understanding of creative framing as a mechanism for reconstructing architectural narrative by engaging with the dynamics between seen and unseen aspects in architecture.
