Penggunaan media sosial secara berlebihan merupakan fenomena yang sudah tidak bisa dihindari saat ini. Paparan terhadap media sosial secara terus-menerus tentu berpotensi menimbulkan dampak negatif bagi individu, salah satunya adalah terlibat dalam perilaku cyberbullying. Dalam konteks tersebut, salah satu faktor protektif yang dapat mencegah tindakan cyberbullying adalah flourishing. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mencari tahu hubungan antara flourishing dan kelima elemen PERMA, yakni positive emotion, engagement, relationships, meaning, dan accomplishment terhadap tindakan individu untuk melakukan cyberbullying pada media sosial. Instrumen The PERMA-Profiler dan Cyberbullying in Social Media Scale (CSMS) digunakan dalam penelitian untuk mengukur kondisi flourishing dan cyberbullying. Penelitian dilakukan pada 160 partisipan yang berusia 18–29 tahun (M = 21.87, SD = 2.164), menggunakan media sosial, dan memiliki skor cyberbullying minimal 2 dengan menggunakan teknik convenience sampling. Data dalam penelitian dianalisis menggunakan uji analisis non-parametrik Kendall’s tau-b dan hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa tidak terdapat hubungan antara flourishing dan cyberbullying (r= -.061, p > 0.05). Lebih lanjut, keempat elemen PERMA, yakni positive emotion (r = -.002, p > 0.05), relationships (r = -.065, p > 0.05), meaning (r = -.084, p > 0.05), dan accomplishment (r = -.050, p > 0.05) juga ditemukan tidak memiliki hubungan dengan cyberbullying. Sementara itu, pada elemen engagement (r = -.114, p < 0.05) ditemukan hubungan negatif yang signifikan dengan cyberbullying. Oleh karena itu, diketahui bahwa jika individu memiliki tingkat engagement yang baik, maka lebih rendah kemungkinan untuk mereka terlibat dalam tindakan cyberbullying. Penelitian ini dapat menunjukkan bahwa engagement dapat menjadi faktor protektif dari tindakan cyberbullying.
Excessive use of social media is an unavoidable phenomenon today. Continuous exposure to social media certainly has the potential to cause negative impacts on individuals, one of which is involvement in cyberbullying behavior. In this context, one of the protective factors that can prevent cyberbullying is flourishing. Therefore, this study aims to determine the relationship between development and the five PERMA elements —positive emotions, engagement, relationships, meaning, and achievement—in individual actions that contribute to cyberbullying on social media. The PERMA-Profiler and Cyberbullying in Social Media Scale (CSMS) instruments were used in the study to measure flourishing and cyberbullying. The study was conducted on 160 participants aged 18–29 years (M = 21.87, SD = 2.164), using social media, and having a cyberbullying score of at least 2 using convenience sampling techniques. The data in the study were analyzed using the non-parametric Tau-b Kendall analysis test and the results showed that there was no relationship between development and cyberbullying (r = -.061, p > 0.05). Furthermore, the four PERMA elements, namely positive emotions (r = -.002, p > 0.05), relationships (r = -.065, p > 0.05), meaning (r = -.084, p > 0.05), and achievement (r = -.050, p > 0.05) were also found to have no relationship with cyberbullying. Meanwhile, the engagement element (r = -.114, p < 0.05) found a significant negative relationship with cyberbullying. Therefore, it is known that if individuals have a good level of engagement, they are less likely to be involved in cyberbullying. This study shows that engagement can be a protective factor against cyberbullying.
