"Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan tentang tokoh Bustami Abdul Gani dan strategi pengajaran bahasa Arab yang digunakannya dalam penerapan metode langsung. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode analisis deskriptif kualitatif dengan pendekatan historis dan studi pustaka. Pendekatan historis digunakan untuk menelusuri riwayat hidup Gani yang sudah meninggal. Studi pustaka digunakan untuk menganalisis sumber dengan mengandalkan buku atau jurnal penelitian yang berkaitan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Gani adalah seorang ahli dan pengajar bahasa Arab yang telah menaruh perhatian pada pengembangan pengajaran bahasa Arab di Indonesia. Semangatnya dalam mengajar dan mengembangkan metode pengajaran bahasa Arab harus diteruskan oleh generasi setelahnya. Suatu metode dalam pengajaran bahasa Arab tidak dapat diterapkan pada semua lembaga pendidikan. Banyak faktor yang mempengaruhi berhasil atau tidaknya suatu metode pengajaran bahasa Arab. Untuk mencapai keberhasilan tersebut, Gani mengemukakan sebuah strategi yang dapat dilakukan oleh pengajar bahasa Arab dalam penerapan metode langsung. Metode langsung adalah metode pengajaran bahasa Arab dengan cara guru langsung menerapkan bahasa Arab sebagai bahasa pengantar tanpa menggunakan bahasa ibu. Dengan digunakannya strategi tersebut, diharapkan pengajaran bahasa Arab di Indonesia menjadi semakin baik.

This research aims to explain the figure of Bustami Abdul Gani and the Arabic teaching strategy he used in applying the direct method. This research uses qualitative descriptive analysis method with historical approach and literature study. The historical approach is used to trace the life history of the deceased Gani. Literature study is used to analyze sources by relying on related books or research journals. The results show that Gani was an Arabic language expert and teacher who had paid attention to the development of Arabic language teaching in Indonesia. His passion in teaching and developing Arabic teaching methods should be continued by the generation after him. A method in teaching Arabic cannot be applied to all educational institutions. Many factors affect the success or failure of an Arabic language teaching method. To achieve this success, Gani suggests a strategy that can be done by Arabic language teachers in the application of the direct method. The direct method is a method of teaching Arabic by means of the teacher directly applying Arabic as the language of instruction without using the mother tongue. With the use of this strategy, it is hoped that Arabic language teaching in Indonesia will be better."
