Sifat skripsi adalah analisa struktual, yaitu membahas makna novel menrurut beberapa unsur pembentuk yang paling menonjol dalam menerangkan makna seperti alur, penokohan dan pelambangan. Tujuan skripsi ini adalah memperlihatkan kaitan antara pandangan pribadi EM Forster dengan tema atau makna dasar novel-novelnya dan dengan demikian meningkatkan apresiasi terhadapnya."
