This thesis is a research about women and monstrous mother in Gillian Flynn's novel Sharp Objects (2006). The method in this research is using a feminist approach in analytical descriptive method. This novel tells the issue of women's phenomena and problems. Therefore, the research was conducted using the monstrous-feminine theory of Barbara Creed to show the basis and effects of monstrous feminine and Elaine Showalter's gynocriticism to show the impact of monstrosity from a female perspective. In this research, it was found that the labelling of monstrosity on women as mothers is caused by the pressure of gender role by men and Flynn as a female author succeeded in expressing the voice of women through the novel, one of which was by giving women dominance in the story more than the male characters."
