"Arsitektur merepresentasikan banyak hal, solusi, kebutuhan maupun ekspresi pernyataan, aplikasi kecil seperti rumah tinggal atau skala besar seperti perkotaan. Di perkotaan besar yang dipenuhi banyak bangunan, kadang kala arsitek dipusingkan dengan bagaimana gedung baru harus ditampilkan. Biasanya, bentuk bangunan menjadi fokus utama agar gedung tersebut dikenali. Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk memperkenalkan arsitektur anonim sebagai alternatif dari arsitektur ikonik. Arsitektur anonim lebih memperhitungkan kontekstualitas dan menarik inspirasi dari gedung-gedung di sekitarnya. Karya tulis ini akan bersumber dari ide-ide dan tulisan arsitek berpengaruh serta studi preseden-preseden yang relevan. Disertakan pula karya desain penulis sebagai aplikasi. Laporan desain ini berdasarkan karya studio penulis yang berlokasi di kota Perth.

Architecture exist in many size, simple settlements or at a city scale. It represents many thing, solution, necessity or a statement. In big cities build of many buildings including Perth, Architects often struggle to present a new building. Through many consideration, usually form is the main emphasis for the building to be acknowledged. This writings aims to promote anonymous architecture as opposed to iconic architecture when developing new building. Anonymous architecture is a contextual approach in designing building, drawing inspiration from the adjacent building. This writing will argue based on principles and ideas from influential architects and writers. Studies on relevant precedence will also be included to strengthen the arguments. Anonymous architecture benefits the growth of the development of urban spaces. As it prevents the cancerous growth of new building that is apathetic to its context. As an application, a project report is included to furthermore enhance the findings of the research. It is based on author's completed studio project situated at the city of Perth. !"

"Fokus penelitian ini adalah untuk menemukan penerapan karakter “surrealis” dalam Arsitektur Vernakular Indonesia sebagai produk pemikiran bawah sadar berdasarkan definisi yang didefinisikan oleh para pencipta seni dan desainer Gerakan Surealisme pada tahun 1900-an. Dari masa pra hingga pasca masa keemasan gerakan surealisme hingga saat ini, dari pergeseran banyak gaya dan bentuk karya seni, definisi surealisme telah diguncang oleh keputusan bawah sadar, akar dari kesamaan dalam arsitektur vernakular didirikan dalam aspek sosial, budaya, dan topografi suatu keberadaan. Disuntikkan pada karya-karya manusia termasuk keluaran arsitektur, Menariknya Arsitektur Vernakular Indonesia menjadi salah satu arsitektur yang “eksplisit” menampilkan pemikiran pada gayanya. Dipimpin oleh Tongkonan Toraja, tulisan ini akan menganalisis implementasi karakter surealis dalam Arsitektur Vernakular Indonesia dengan menghubungkannya dengan gagasan yang didirikan.

The focus of this study is to find the applications of “surrealist” characters in Indonesian Vernacular Architecture as a product of subconscious thinking based on their definition defined by the Surrealism Movement in the 1900s’ creators of arts and designers. From pre- to post-golden age of surrealism movement until the present times, from the shift of many styles and forms of artworks, the definition of surrealism has founded to be bed rocked by subconscious decisions, the roots of the similarities in vernacular architecture founded in the aspect of social, cultural, and topography of one existence. Injected to the works of human beings including architectural output, Indonesian Vernacular Architecture interestingly being one to “explicitly” show the thinking to the style. Leads by Toraja’s Tongkonan, this writing will analyze the implementation of the surrealist characters form Indonesian Vernacular Architectures by connecting them with the idea founded."
