"Community housing atau cohousing merupakan suatu konsep perumahan yang berlandaskan komitmen dari para penghuninya untuk hidup bersama. Di negara barat cohousing banyak diterapkan dan dapat diterima masyarakat. Pada skripsi ini penulis mencoba meninjau interaksi sosial dan kebersediaan masyarakat kota di Indonesia terhadap konsep cohousing. Studi awal yang dilakukan adalah mengamati desain cohousing yang sudah terealisasi di luar negeri, yaitu pada Nevada City dan Wild Sage Cohousing. Kemudian studi dilanjutkan dengan mengamati secara langsung interaksi sosial masyarakat kota pada Perumahan Greenland, Sawangan dan RW 01 Cikini, Jakarta Pusat. Penulis juga menyebarkan kuesioner yang berisikan pertanyaan sehubungan dengan interaksi sosial dan desain community housing. Dari hasil studi pada kedua perumahan tersebut terlihat bahwa interaksi sosial warga di sana cukuplah tinggi dan memungkinkan untuk penerapan konsep cohousing. Namun berdasarkan hasil kesioner yang didapat ada ketidaksetujuan warga terhadap beberapa aturan desain cohousing yang berkembang di Amerika Serikat. Apabila Indonesia ingin mengadopsi desain semacam itu maka diperlukan penyesuaian lebih lanjut agar dapat diterima masyarakat dengan baik.

Community housing or cohousing is a housing concept which is based on occupant's commitment for living together. There are many cohousing projects built in west countries and accepted by their society. In this undergraduate thesis, The writer tried to do observation about social interaction and willingness of Indonesian urban society toward community housing concept. The early study tried to observe two abroad cohousing designs, Nevada City dan Wild Sage Cohousing. Then the observation continued to see social interaction of Indonesian urban society in Greenland Forest Park, Sawangan and RW 01 Cikini, Jakarta Pusat. The writer also spread questionnaire about social interaction and cohousing design to them. The observation showed that those people have a good social interaction and cohousing concept is possible to build in Indonesia. But, from the collected questionnaire, there are disagreement with some progressive rules from American cohousing. If Indonesia want to adopt some of those designs, it needs further adjustment so community housing would be accepted by Indonesian society."
