"This research is aimed at analyzing the students ability to use Indonesian language in wring news. The method of this research is descriptive. The population consist of 80 news written by the students of English Department of Bung Hatta University while the sample is 30 news taken randomly. The data analyzed through (1) tabulating, (2) grouping, (3) calculating percentage, (4) interpreting and (5) concluding the analyzed data, show that the mistakes in writing news are primally caused by (1) the incompleteness (2) the unparallelism (3) the addiction and (4) the unclearness of sentences."
