"This volume contains eight state of the art contributions on mathematical aspects and applications of fast boundary element methods in engineering and industry. This covers the analysis and numerics of boundary integral equations by using differential forms, preconditioning of hp boundary element methods, the application of fast boundary element methods for solving challenging problems in magnetostatics, the simulation of micro electro mechanical systems, and for contact problems in solid mechanics. Other contributions are on recent results on boundary element methods for the solution of transient problems. "

"Butt Flash Welding banyak digunakan untuk penyambungan plat-plat baja dipabrik baja. Tujuannya adalah untuk mendapatkan plat baja dengan panjang yang kontinu dan dapat di gulung, sehingga memudahkan untuk penanganan dan pengiriman. Pelat-pelat baja terlebih dahulu disambung dengan las ini, supaya proses pembersihan kotoran dan korosi di Continuous Pickling line ( CPL ) dapat berlangsung terus menerus tanpa berhenti. Setelah pelat dibersihkan di CPL, selanjutnya direduksi di Tandem dengan digiling dingin (cold rolling). Putusnya sambungan las di CPL maupun di Tandem akan sangat merugikan.Oleh karena itu kualiatas sambungan las sangat menentukan untuk proses produksi di Cold Rolling Mill (CRM). Pada proses pengelasan ini, terdapat beberapa parameter-parameter yang akan mempengaruhi kualitas sambungan las. Parameter-parameter yang mempengaruhi, diantaranya adalah kecepatan gerakan maju plat yang dilas, percepatan yang diberikan untuk mempercepat waktu proses pengelasan, tegangan listrik yang terjadi antara dua plat yang akan disambung dan sensitivitas yang tergantung pada komposisi logam yang disambung. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kombinasi parameter kecepatan dan percepatan yang optimal, sehingga dapat diperoleh sambungan las yang terbaik. Untuk mengetahui kualitas sambungan las, maka dilakukan pengujian mekanis seperti Bulged Test,Tensile Test,Mikro Hardness test,Bending Test dan test struktur mikro. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dengan menaikkan kecepatan dan percepatan dari Standard Operating Procedure Pengelasan yang dilakukan selama ini,sambungan pengelasan menunjukan hasil yang lebih baik. Pada kecepatan V4 ■16/24mm/det dan percepatan ۸3 ■ 6/24 mm/det2 didapat basil Bulged Test ■ 2BB9 Psi, Tensile Test ■ 374, 39 N/mm2, lebar HAZ ■ 1, 71 mm, kekerasan VHN■ 142, 6, sedangkan menurut SOP pada kecepatan V2 ■14/24mm/det, percepatan ۸2.5/24 mm/det2 didapat hasil Bulged Test ■ 209OPsi, Tensile Test ■361, 81 N/mm2, lebar HAZ■1, 75mm, kekerasan VHN■150, 8.
