"Perubahan pada tren dan perkembangan teknologi yang terus terjadi berimplikasi dengan kompetensi yang dibutuhkan pustakawan perguruan tinggi saat ini dan di masa depan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi persepsi dan ekspektasi mahasiswa aktif S1 Program Studi Ilmu Perpustakaan (PSIP) FIB UI terhadap kompetensi pustakawan perguruan tinggi serta menganalisis kurikulum PSIP FIB UI dalam menyediakan infrastruktur akademik bagi calon lulusan PSIP FIB UI. Metode penelitian yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah metode kuantitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif melalui kuesioner yang disebarkan kepada 166 mahasiswa aktif S1 PSIP FIB UI. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa adanya penekanan kuat terhadap kompetensi yang diperoleh dari disiplin ilmu perpustakaan dan beberapa keterampilan personal dan komunikasi serta adanya peningkatan signifikan terhadap ekspektasi mahasiswa akan kompetensi di bidang teknologi. Penelitian juga menunjukkan bahwa kurikulum PSIP FIB UI telah mendukung pengembangan kompetensi calon lulusan PSIP FIB UI sesuai dengan standar yang berlaku di Indonesia.

The dynamic changes in trends and the development of technology have implications with the competencies needed by current and future academic librarians. This study aims to identify the perception and expectation of undergraduate Library and Information Science (LIS) students on the academic librarian’s competencies and analyze their curriculum in providing academic infrastructure for prospective graduates. The research method used in this study is a quantitative method with a descriptive approach through questionnaires distributed to 166 LIS undergraduate students. The results of the study indicate a strong emphasis on domain knowledge competencies and interpersonal and communication skills with a significant increase in students' expectation towards technology competencies in the future. This study also shows that the LIS curriculum has supported the competency development of prospective LIS graduates in accordance with the standards that apply in Indonesia."
