Rudimentary work of organs in premature infants make monitoring the performance of vital organs is very important. One of the most important organ that must be monitored is respiratory. In this research we developed a premature infant respiratory monitoring device in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit NICU incubator by utilizing optical fiber. Sensor work based on the principle of power losses due to macro bending on optical fibers. The power losses can be obtained by bending the fiber optic. Sensor of the optical fiber bending with certain curve diameter that integrated into flexible materials affixed to the top surface of disposable diapers in the infant's abdomen. Furthermore, the bending material will stretch and loosen with the movement of the infant's respiratory. The strain changes affect the light intensity received by the photodiode propagating inside the optical fiber which is then received by the photodiode to be converted into an electrical signal and processed by the signal conditioning circuit.
The Arduino UNO is used to convert the analog signals generated by the signal conditioning circuit to a digital signal using the visual basic program, then the digital data is displayed on the monitor screen. The device also equipped with a GSM module as a feature provider of short messege service SMS for periodic transmission of respiratory rate data as well as in case of apnea in infants to the mobile phone. From the experiment results for laboratory scale using ventilator as breathing simulator, showed that the device can calculate respiration rate from 10 100 breath per minute BPM in real time, with 99.75 of accuracy level.

"Next generation optical communication systems will have to transport a significantly increased data volume at a reduced cost per transmitted bit. To achieve these ambitious goals optimum design is crucial in combination with dynamic adaptation to actual traffic demands and improved energy efficiency. In the first part of the book the author elaborates on the design of optical transmission systems. Several methods for efficient numerical simulation are presented ranging from meta-model based optimization to parallelization techniques for solving the nonlinear Schrödinger equation. Furthermore, fast analytical and semi-analytical models are described to estimate the various degradation effects occurring on the transmission line. In the second part of the book operational aspects of optical networks are investigated. Physical layer impairment-aware routing and regenerator placement are studied. Finally, it is analyzed how the energy efficiency of a multi-layer optical core network can be increased by dynamic adaptation to traffic patterns changing in the course of the day"

"Kemajuan teknologi mengakibatkan kebutuhan kecepatan data meningkat.

Technology advances make the demand of bit rate increase. So we need to design a reliable fiber optic backbone network with high-capacity. In this paper, a backbone network will be designed with a capacity of 40G * 80 channel that connects the city of Bandar Lampung and Palembang. Designed network has a total length of 566 km and pass through Bandar Lampung, Kotabumi, Martapura, Muara Enim, Prabumulih, and Palembang. Network created using SMF-28 premium from corning incorporated and Unitrans ZXWM M920 from ZTE coorporation. This network able to operate at 7 to 80 channel with ONSR value 34dB to 42dB."
