"In Indonesia, there is now no operational sea surface temperature (SST) monitoring for such activities as oceanography, climatology or fishery. Indeed until 1986, LAPAN required NOAA data without atmospheric correction. It is even worse that local hardware constraints prevent any operational monitoring with mainframe computers. By analysing NOAA data with microcomputers, the methodology presented in this paper intends to fill this gap. It was tested with the study of large scale SST features in Indonesia from 1981-1985. This study stresses the possibility of an operational SST Monitoring in Indonesia, allowing simple data manipulation with a type of hardwarw equipment maintained locally and easily."

"As satellite oceanography matures, there is an increasing demand for quantitative satellite data. Numerous scientific users are concerned by the determination of Sea Surface Temperatures (SST), dynamical oceanography, deep water convection, and pollution. Numerous physical and technological factors prevent to achieve accurate satellite measurements of SST. The main contamination due to the atmosphere (water vapor) and can lead to errors up to 10 Kelvin. The variability of sea surface emissivity and the sensor noise lead also to errors. The use of radiometric correction permits to get SST maps with more or less good accuracy according to the type of processing. In Indonesia the reception of the GMS and NOAA data must be used for a systematic analysis of the accuracy of the remote sensed SST in order to get n automatic routine mapping of these SST."

"The Indonesian spatiotemporal cloud cover distribution was quantified with the aid of GMS, Landsat and SPOT data. Iterative interactive factorial analyses grouped pixels with similar profiles into 18 classes for all land areas. For each class, statistics of Landsat and SPOT images, grouped by class, were used to verify, calibrate and improve class profiles. This led to quantified temporal profiles of probability of acquiring remotely sensed data with 10, 20, and 30 percent cloud cover, for any Indonesian land area.

ABSTRACT
Technological developments that are increasingly sophisticated have penetrated the world of vehicle rides. This is evidenced by the implementation of an Unmanned Control system on vehicle rides. The purpose of creating an unmanned system is to explore areas that have high risk or can no longer be reached by humans. For vehicles underwater with an unmanned system called Underwater ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle). The most developed Underwater ROV categories currently include Mini and General categories. In this category, the dimensions are large and heavy, making it difficult to carry around. The use of Underwater ROV will also make it easier, especially when carrying out inspections of ship hulls below the water surface and avoiding existing risks. Therefore, this study developed an initial prototype of Micro Class Underwater ROV that has a small, lightweight, compact electrical system and low cost without reducing its function as a hull inspector from design to manufacturing as well as testing its performance which includes tightness, stability and mobility. This research was conducted by designing and assembling mechanical and electrical components, designing programs and algorithms to control prototypes and then proceed with data retrieval and performance analysis. The prototype has a closed-frame type with a total mass of 3.7 kg and impermeable to a depth of 2.5 meters and can be stabilized back to its original position in 1.25 seconds when given outside force. The prototype has an average speed of forward motion is 0.31 m/s and a backward motion is 0.273 m/s. The average speed of left rotational motion is 0.378 m/s and right rotational motion is 0.401 m/s. The average speed of resurface motion without throttle at 0.5 meter depth is 0.188 m/s, 0.75 meters depth is 0.184 m/s and 1 meter depth is 0.187 m/s. The average speed of resurface motion with throttle at a depth of 0.5 meters is 0.351 m/s, 0.75 meters depth is 0.309 m/s and 1 meter depth is 0.283 m/s. The average speed of dive motion at a depth of 0.5 meters is 0.145 m/s, a depth of 0.75 meters is 0.138 m/s and a depth of 1 meter is 0.151 m/s.

"Skipjack tuna is an important species targeting by pole and line fishery in Bone Bay. The distribution and abundance of this species tended to aggregate to the preferred bio-physical environments. To describe the short term relationship between skipjack tuna and oceanographic conditions and to visualize the predicted high catch areas, remotely sensed satellite based-oceanographic sea surface temperature (SST) and chlorophyll-a together fisheries data were used. Results indicated that the highest skipjack CPUEs were mainly found in coastal areas of Palopo and Kolaka both in 2007 and in 2009 during the period of study. The high tuna concentrations corresponded well with chlorophyll-a of 0.15-0.40 mg mg-3 and SST of 29.0-31.5 °C. The preferred ranges provide a good indicator for initially detecting potential skipjack fishing grounds. This study suggested that thermal and chlorophyll fronts as well as upwelling may important mechanisms in explaining the temporal and spatial dynamics of skipjack tuna distribution and abundance in Bone Bay."
