"Non-linear aeroacoustic modeling approach is used to estimate the important fine-structure speech events, which are not revealed by the short time Fourier transform (STFT). This book includes advanced topics in non-linear estimation and modeling techniques along with their applications to speaker recognition."

"This book provides a series of reports from the 1st International Conference on Model Hosts. This first of its kind meeting focused on invertebrate, vertebrate and amoeboid systems used for the study of host-pathogen interactions, virulence and immunity, as well as on the relevance of these pathogenesis systems and mammalian models. Importantly, a common, fundamental set of molecular mechanisms is employed by a significant number of microbial pathogens against a widely divergent array of metazoan hosts. Moreover, the evolutionarily conserved immune responses of these model hosts have contributed important insights to our understanding of the innate immune response of mammals."

"For more than a century, the study of various types of inequalities has been the focus of great attention by many researchers, interested both in the theory and its applications. In particular, there exists a very rich literature related to the well known Cebysev, Gruss, Trapezoid, Ostrowski, Hadamard and Jensen type inequalities. The present monograph is an attempt to organize recent progress related to the above inequalities, which we hope will widen the scope of their applications. "

"The proceedings represent the state of knowledge in the area of algorithmic differentiation (AD). The 31 contributed papers presented at the AD2012 conference cover the application of AD to many areas in science and engineering as well as aspects of AD theory and its implementation in tools. For all papers the referees, selected from the program committee and the greater community, as well as the editors have emphasized accessibility of the presented ideas also to non-AD experts. In the AD tools arena new implementations are introduced covering, for example, Java and graphical modeling environments or join the set of existing tools for Fortran. New developments in AD algorithms target the efficiency of matrix-operation derivatives, detection and exploitation of sparsity, partial separability, the treatment of nonsmooth functions, and other high-level mathematical aspects of the numerical computations to be differentiated. Applications stem from the Earth sciences, nuclear engineering, fluid dynamics, and chemistry, to name just a few. In many cases the applications in a given area of science or engineering share characteristics that require specific approaches to enable AD capabilities or provide an opportunity for efficiency gains in the derivative computation. The description of these characteristics and of the techniques for successfully using AD should make the proceedings a valuable source of information for users of AD tools."

"This book provides a snapshot of the research activities of the Institute of Geotechnical Engineering, University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences in Vienna, Austria. The topics are broad ranged including; Centrifuge model testing, Constitutive model, Granular physics, Numerical simulation, and Soil bioengineering.
The topics reflect our geotechnical research in a changing world. Traditional topics in foundation engineering are fading out and new topics are emerging. The European Commission is gratefully acknowledged for funding the following projects within its program FP7 and Horizon2020: MUMOLADE (Multiscale modelling of landslide and debris flow), REVENUES (Reinforced Vegetation Numerical Evaluation of Slopes) and GEORAMP (Geohazards - Risk Assessment, Mitigation and Prevention)."

"Many problems in mechanics involve deformable domains with moving boundaries, including fluid-structure interaction, multiphase flows, flows over soft tissues and textiles, or flows involving accretion/erosion to name but a few. The presence of a moving boundary presents considerable challenges when it comes to modelling and understanding the underlying system dynamics. This proceedings volume collects contributions made at the IUTAM Symposium on Recent Advances in Moving Boundary Problems in Mechanics held in Christchurch, New Zealand in February 2018."
