This thesis describes the design, making, and analysis of traffic counting and vehicles classification system using computer vision technology. The methods used in this system is a method of optical flow, and for the process of feature extraction by using the canny algorithm. The methods used were implemented and evaluated using the java programming by adding the openCV library and javaCV, and to use jdk 1.7 and Netbeans IDE 7.1. The workflow of the system is the data retrieval and data processing. The data is taken in form of video CCTV, the video data is then processed using this system. Data processing consists of the processes of conversion of video to pictures, segmentation, feature extraction in this system using canny algorithm, and object detection method using optical flow. The result of that process is referred to conduct the counting, classification and to calculate the average speed of each vehicle passing in the area examined. Our experiment shows that by applying optical flow method, Canny algorithm, and removing noise using morphological process occurred that level of error is decreased that the distance is greater. Error occurred for most of the counting stage is 26.75% and for the vehicle classification is 38%. Our test also observes that the closer the first and the second area, the longer process classification so the farther detection distances."

"This book presents the fundamental physics of optical interferometry as applied to biophysical, biological and medical research. Interference is at the core of many types of optical detection and is a powerful probe of cellular and tissue structure in interfererence microscopy and in optical coherence tomography. It is also the root cause of speckle and other imaging artefacts that limit range and resolution. For biosensor applications, the inherent sensitivity of interferometry enables ultrasensitive detection of molecules in biological samples for medical diagnostics. In this book, emphasis is placed on the physics of light scattering, beginning with the molecular origins of refraction as light propagates through matter, and then treating the stochastic nature of random fields that ultimately dominate optical imaging in cells and tissue. The physics of partial coherence plays a central role in the text, with a focus on coherence detection techniques that allow information to be selectively detected out of incoherent and heterogeneous backgrounds.
Optical Interferometry for Biology and Medicine is divided into four sections. The first covers fundamental principles, and the next three move up successive scales, beginning with molecular interferometry (biosensors), moving to cellular interferometry (microscopy), and ending with tissue interferometry (biomedical).

"In signal transmission through an optical fiber, a bending fiber causes degradation of efficiency. Due to mode conversion and radiation loss. Considering a light power radiated from a bending fiber has a possibility to be utilized as detectable signal, it is proposed an optical tap by using bending fiber.
The study is devoted to design and construction of optical tap for fiber link, without any other optical element. The signal quality of the radiated light from optical fiber bending has been investigated in various angle of detection and in various radius of curvature. The result shows that the radiated signal has similar shapes of distribution of 20 degrees. And the bending loss increases if the radius of curvature decreases.
A trial of sending optical signal from one end of the fiber link shows a detected radiated signal from the bending point. It is predicted that the bending fiber can be applied as optical tap, instead of a source of power loss."
