"This book is for policymakers, lawyers, doctors, mental health professionals, hospice workers, and for anyone who has thought about suicide or has lost someone to suicide. Based on surveys and interviews of more than 300 suicide attempt survivors, doctors, lawyers, and mental health professionals, it painstakingly exposes the irrationality of current policies and laws about suicide, including assisted suicide. The author suggests specific reforms, including increased protection of mental health professionals from liability, increased protection of suicidal people from coercive interventions, reframing medical involvement in assisted suicide, encouraging universities to stop forcing suicidal students to leave, and focusing on approaches to suicidal people that have helped them rather than assuming suicidality is always a symptom of an underlying mental illness. The book includes a comparison of our own policies with those of countries in Europe, Asia, and Central America, and covers the 2015 legalization of assisted suicide in Canada. The book includes a model statute, seven in-depth studies of people whose cases presented profound ethical, legal, and policy dilemmas, and more than a thousand cases interpreting rights and responsibilities relating to suicide, especially in the area of psychiatric malpractice."

"Lembaga Kejaksaan Republik Indonesia memiliki kewenangan-kewenangan yang dapat berkaitan dengan psikiatri forensik. Skripsi ini akan membahas mengenai apa saja kewenangan-kewenangan tersebut berikut kedudukan psikiatri forensik dalam kewenangan-kewenangan tersebut serta pelaksanaan kewenangan-kewenangan tersebut secara kelembagaan oleh lembaga Kejaksaan Republik Indonesia. Sudut pandang yang diambil dalam skripsi ini adalah dengan membandingkan lembaga Kejaksaan Republik Indonesia dengan lembaga Kepolisian Republik Indonesia dalam hal perangkat penunjang dalam susunan organisasi yang bertugas untuk mengkelola kewenangan terkait medis khususnya psikiatri forensik yang ada. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang telah dilakukan, psikiatri forensik berkedudukan sebagai ilmu yang membantu peradilan ketika di dalamnya terlibat orang dengan gangguan jiwa. Kemudian, dalam pelaksanaannya lembaga Kejaksaan belum mempunyai organ khusus dalam struktur organisasi yang mengkelola aspek medis khususnya psikiatri forensik.

The Attorney of the Republic of Indonesia has authorities which linked to forensic psychiatry. This study will discuss about those authorities along with the standing of forensic psychiatry in those authorities and the implementation of those authorities institutionally. The point of view taken in this thesis is to compare the institutions of the Attorney of the Republic of Indonesia with the Police of the Republic of Indonesia in terms of supporting tools in the organizational structure that are responsible for the management of medical related authorities, especially forensic psychiatry. Based on the results of research that has been done, forensic psychiatry serves as a science that helps the judiciary when involved people with mental disorders. Then, in its implementation, the Attorney of the Republic of Indonesia has no specific organs in the organizational structure that manage the medical aspects especially forensic psychiatry."
