Penelitian memanfaatkan pendekatan penelitian kualitatif dengan metode analisis konten dimana Film American Sniper 2014 berfungsi sebagai teks. Proses pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui studi kepustakaan. Hasil penelitian menemukan bahwa patriotisme dan nasionalisme Amerika Serikat yang direpresentasikan dalam film American Sniper 2014 adalah patriotisme dan nasionalisme yang ditanamkan oleh orang tua kepada anak sejak usia dini, berakar dari nilai-nilai Protestantisme, tak kunjung padam , mengutamakan kepentingan negara di atas kepentingan pribadi. Patriotisme dan nasionalisme sangat penting bagi Amerika Serikat terlebih di masa kini untuk menjaga keutuhan dan persatuan warga Amerika Serikat yang majemuk dan untuk membangun kesadaran warga AS agar ikut aktif memerangi terorisme yang mengancam negara dan mempropaganda negara-negara di dunia untuk mendukung perang terhadap terorisme. ABSTRACTThis thesis examines the propaganda of patriotism and nationalism of the United States of America in the American Sniper 2014 film. The research utilizes a qualitative research approach with content analysis methods in which the American Sniper 2014 film serves as text. The process of collecting data is done through literature study. The results of the study found that the patriotism and nationalism of the United States represented in the American Sniper 2014 film are patriotism and nationalism instilled by parents to children from an early age, rooted in the values of Protestantism, unflagging and prioritizing the interests of the state above personal interests. Patriotism and nationalism are so important to the United States especially nowadays to preserve the integrity and unity of the plural American citizens and to build awareness of US citizens to actively engage in the fight against terrorism that threatens the state and propagandize countries in the world to support the war on terrorism.
