"Many developing countries have relied quite heavily on the policy of industrial decentralization to uplift the lagging economies of their peripheral regions. In Malaysia, the MIDA plays a major role in persuading foreign enterprises to locate in the periphery. In addition to MIDA, there are plethora of state agencies which implement state industrial policy. Development officials in their effort to attract more industries to their respective regions, work on the premise that certain locational factors are critical to investors locational decision-making process. Obviously development officials have their own perceptions of the attractions and disadvantages of the periphery. This paper examines whether the officials have a good gasp of the industrialist dominant motives for selecting Kedah as production location and discusses the implications for industrial development in officials assumptions do not occur with industrialists real reasons for selecting Kedah."

"Artikel ini mengenai transmigrasi dan integrasi bangsa dengan studi kasus masyarakat Bali di Buton 1978-2000an. Pembahasan difokuskan pada program transmigrasi yang berdampak pada masyarakat Buton melalui aspek ekonomi dan sosial budaya. Transmigrasi di Buton dilaksanakan karena adanya rencana Pemerintah Daerah untuk menghasilkan lahan persawahan. Upaya yang dilakukan yakni dengan mendatangkan masyarakat Bali ke Buton. Tujuan penelitian ini mengenai interaksi yang berdampak pada proses integrasi kedua masyarakat. Metode penelitian ini adalah metode sejarah dengan menggunakan sumber tertulis dan sumber lisan. Proses integrasi tampak pada aspek ekonomidan sosial budaya yang terwujud dalam temuan yang ada di penelitian ini. Hasil temuan yang ada menunjukan bahwa masyarakat Bali telah menghasilkan lahan persawahan di Kota Baubau. Hasil dari lahan persawahan tersebut juga telah digunakan untuk memenuhi kebutuhan beras di Kota Baubau, sehingga dengan didatangkannya masyarakat Bali di Buton telah memenuhi rencana Pemerintah Daerah Buton dalam menghasilkan lahan persawahan. Meski berada di Buton, masyarakat Bali tetap menjalankan kepercayaan dan adat istiadat yang berbeda dengan masyarakat setempat. Namun, Adanya perbedaan agama dan adat istiadat tersebut tidak menghalangi kedua masyarakat untuk berbaur di dalam kehidupan masyarakat.

This article is about transmigration and national integration with a case study of Balinese people in Buton from 1978 to 2000. The discussion focused on the transmigration program which had an impact on the Buton community through economic and socio-cultural aspects. Transmigration in Buton was carried out because of the Regional Governments plan to produce rice fields. Efforts are made namely by bringing Balinese people to Buton. Thepurpose of this study is about interactions that have an impact on the integration process of the two communities. This research method is a historical method using written sources and oral sources. The integration process appears in the economic and socio-cultural aspects that are manifested in the findings in this study. The findings show that the Balinese have produced rice fields in the City of Baubau. The results of the rice fields have also been used to meet rice needs in Baubau City. So that by bringing in Balinese people in Buton, they have fulfilled the plan of the Buton Regional Government to produce rice fields. Even though they are in Buton, Balinese people continue to carry out beliefs and customs that are different from the local community. However, the existence of differences in religion and customs does not prevent the two communities from mingling in peoples lives. "ABSTRAKBudaya memiliki pengaruh yang besar dalam pembentukan karakter serta pola pengambilan keputusan dalam sebuah negara yang pada akhirnya juga bepengaruh terhadap kesetaraan gender di negara tersebut. Penelitian ini akan menganalisis budaya di Filipina sebagai bagian dari kawasan Asia Tenggara yang dipengaruhi oleh budaya Spanyol dan Amerika Serikat. Adapun studi kasus dalam penelitian ini adalah revisi kebijakan parental leave tahun 2017, yakni Senate Bill No. 1305 sebagai contoh dari hasil kebijakan yang diproduksi olehpemerintah Filipina sebagai bentuk kesadaran akan pentingnya peran ayah dan ibu dalam pemeliharaan sebuah keluarga. Penelitian terdahulu mengenai gender dan negara telah menunjukkan bahwa gender merupakan sebuah elemen yang penting dalam pertimbangan pembuatan kebijakan sebuah negara. Sementara itu, gender erat kaitannya dengan budaya yang berkembang dalam sebuah masyarakat. Dengan menggunakan teori gender dan metode kualitatif, penelitian ini menganalisis pengaruh budaya asing yang masuk ke Filipina sehingga mampu memberikan pengaruh pada masyarakat Filipina termasuk kesadaran masyarakat terhadap relasi gender. Penelitian ini juga menganalisis hubungan antara kesetaraan gender di Filipina tersebut dengan revisi kebijakan parental leave dengan melakukan wawancara dan observasi langsung di Manila, Filipina. Temuan dari penelitian ini menemukan adanya percampuran budaya dari Spanyol dan Amerika Serikat telah memberikan kontribusi yang besar terhadap budaya masyarakat Filipina kontemporer.

ABSTRACTCulture has a large influence in the formation of character and decision-making patterns in a country which would also influence the gender equality in the country. This research analyzes the culture in the Philippines as part of the Southeast Asia region which was influenced by the Spanish and American culture. As for the case studies in this research is the revision of the parental leave policy in the year 2017, i.e. the Senate Bill No. 1305. This bill is an example of a gender-based policy made by the Philippine Government to note the importance of father and mother to nurture a family. Some previous researches on gender and states had shown that gender is an important element in the consideration of a State policy making. Meanwhile, gender is deeply connected with the culture that exist in a society. By using the theory of gender and qualitative methods, this research analyzes the influence of foreign cultures in the Philippines society which then also influenced the awareness in the society towards the equality in the gender relations. The research also analyzes the connection between gender equality in the Philippines with the revision of the parental leave policy by doing interviews and direct observation in Manila, the Philippines. The findings of this research shown the existence of the cultural mixture of Spanish and American had given great contribution to the culture in the contemporary Philippines society."

"Thesis ini membahas perubahan sistem administrasi yang terjadi pada distributor Tupperware didalam membangun sistem yang terintegrasi antara Distributor dengan PT. Cahaya Prestasi Indonesia. Penelitian ini adalah gabungan dari penelitian eksploratori dan penelitian deskriptif. Hasil penelitian adalah bahwa perpindahan dari sistem DIMAS ke DIMAS2 telah mengurangi pekerjaan manual, tetapi didalam implementasinya perlu dilakukan pendekatan dan pelatihan kepada user agar tidak terjadi penolakan terhadap perubahan dan sistem baru perlu juga dilakukan pengembangan lebih lanjut untuk mengurangi kekurangan-kekurangannya.

The focus of this study is the changes made in administration system that happened at distributor of Tupperware in developing integrated system between distributors with PT. Cahaya Prestasi Indonesia. This research is aliance of research of exploratory and descriptive research. Result of research is the change of system DIMAS to DIMAS2 have lessened work of manual, but in its implementation require training and approach to the user in order avoid deduction to the new system and Dimas2 need further development to iessen its insuffiencys."
