ABSTRACT
Inequality in the world in general is caused by unjust capitalism in distributing the value of production. Capitalism tends to widen the societal gap between the rich and the poor. Scholars of economic institutionalism have introduced several approaches to facilitate market mechanism, but it is not yet fully effective in solving inequality. On the other hand, varieties of capitalism pointed out that coordinated capitalism generally is able to reduce inequality. This is evident from the comparison of the way capitalism works in the United States and Germany.
The findings show that a capitalist system should support knowledge transparency and skill development. In addition, capitalism needs to coordinate economic stakeholders in a balanced manner.

Piketty, Thomas, 1971-
""Thomas Piketty wrote The Economics of Inequality as an introduction to the conceptual and factual background necessary for interpreting changes in economic inequality over time. Piketty begins by explaining how inequality evolves and how economists measure it. In subsequent chapters, he explores variances in income and ownership of capital and the variety of policies used to reduce these gaps. Along the way, with characteristic clarity and precision, he introduces key ideas about the relationship between labor and capital, the effects of different systems of taxation, the distinction between 'historical' and 'political' time, the impact of education and technological change, the nature of capital markets, the role of unions, and apparent tensions between the pursuit of efficiency and the pursuit of fairness" -- provided by publisher.

ABSTRACT
Health is an important aspect of sustainable development. One indicator that describes the health status of a region is the infant mortality rate. Infant mortality rates in an area are associated with many factors such as health, maternal, demographic, and socioeconomic factors. Socioeconomic factors that affect infant mortality rates include income inequality and poverty. This study aims to examine the relationship between income inequality and poverty with infant mortality rate in regencies in Indonesia 2016. This study uses regency-level macro indicators and raw data Susenas 2016. Using Durbin spatial regression model obtained results that income and poverty imbalance have a significant influence on infant mortality of regencies in Indonesia after being controlled for the influence of female education factors, immunization, and health budget. Durbin's spatial regression results also showed that infant mortality rates in a regency were in addition influenced by income and poverty inequality within regency, also related or may be triggered by conditions of income inequality and poverty of neighboring regencies."
