ABSTRACT
This thesis discusses the effect of cash holdings on firm’s ability to invest. This thesis test the hypothesis to see whether cash holdings increase more value to fianancially constrained firms relatively to financially unconstrained firms. This research use dividend payout ratio and firm size as proxies to classify sample into two sub samples based on whether there is financial constraint or not, and discriminant analysis is used to confirm the accuracy of this proxies to determine financial constraint that may faced by companies. Using random effect model, this research find evidence that there is different value of cash holdings between constrained firms and unconstrained firms."

"[Hortense Tarrade analyses over 200,000 venture capital (VC) investments over the past 20 years to understand the investors' motivation to select national or foreign companies into their portfolio. She compares the sensitivity of US-based, non-US and German VC firms to the availability of local deal supply and demand as well as the relative importance of their intrinsic capabilities in their investment scope decision ("Why do VC firms invest on a national, continental or global scope?"). Further, she provides an in-depth analysis of the role of geographic and cultural distance in investments by German VCs ("Why do VC firms invest in a target location rather than another?")., Hortense Tarrade analyses over 200,000 venture capital (VC) investments over the past 20 years to understand the investors' motivation to select national or foreign companies into their portfolio.

This thesis aims to investigate the impact of the NIL introduction on the investment decisions of foreign and national firms in Indonesia. By using business field-level data of the investment-planned values from 2005 to 2018, the analysis shows, first, the NIL introduction may generate the investment inflows, where Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) favors the “fully open” business fields over the “conditionally open” ones, while the opposite condition applies for the Domestic Direct Investment (DDI)s. Second, there is a parallel movement of crowding-in effect between foreign and national firms responding to the investment opportunities open to both parties. As a possible policy implication, this study suggests that more detailed and transparent information should be provided in the NIL to guarantee its effectiveness. Additionally, since the government is looking for the best way to attract more investment into the country—specifically FDI—while protecting national firms, the stipulation of a Positive Investment List is worth considering.

This paper aims to evaluate impact of foreign ownership and role of market size and trading volume on yield volatility. This research is conducted using monthly data of Fixed Rate Government Bonds and Retail Government Bonds from 2009 1 to 2014 12 and analyzed with SUR model and Fixed Effect GLS estimator.
The estimations show that the model generates significant and positive coefficient of foreign ownership variable hence it lowers the yield volatility. I also analyze the impact of trading activities as proxies for liquidity when interacting with foreign ownership. The search based theory reveals that increasing market liquidity instruments reduces volatility. In line with the theory the positive impact of foreign ownership on the yield volatility will be lower for higher government bond's market size and trading volume.
