Hutcheson, Francis
"Often described as the father of the Scottish Enlightenment, Francis Hutcheson (1694–1746) was born in the north of Ireland to an Ulster-Scottish Presbyterian family. Organised into three 'books' that were divided between two volumes, A System of Moral Philosophy was his most comprehensive work. It synthesised ideas that he had formulated as a minister and as the Chair of Moral Philosophy at the University of Glasgow (1729–46). Published posthumously by his son in 1755, prefaced by an account of his life, it is the only treatise by Hutcheson for which a manuscript is known to have survived. Asserting that individual natural rights derive from an innate understanding of moral behaviour, Hutcheson offers a model that mediates between individual interests and communal ideals. Containing Book 1 and part of Book 2, Volume 1 describes the role and perception of 'perfect' and 'imperfect' natural rights."

This research was conducted to explain corporate political business practices in its involvement in Corporate Social Responsibility activities (CSR). Referring to previous research, Castello and Galang (2014) argue that companies in Asia are increasingly using forms of moral legitimacy to gain public recognition through involvement in promoting social action. This paper aims to look at The Body Shop Indonesia's corporate interests in encouraging the ratification of the Rancangan Undang-Undang Penghapusan Kekerasan Seksual (RUU PKS). Through a qualitative study approach, the researcher collected primary data through interviews with The Body Shop Indonesia, Komnas Perempuan, Magdalene, and Yayasan Pulih. The results of this study found that The Body Shop Indonesia uses moral legitimacy in carrying out Stop Sexual Violence campaign activities as a form of corporate political interest. There are three reasons why The Body Shop Indonesia company is involved in the action of passing RUU PKS: (1) there is no comprehensive legal protection that can protect the community, especially women in the issue of sexual violence, (2) the influence of the image built by The Body Shop Indonesia as a feminist brand, (3) the influence of maintaining the reputation of the values held by The Body Shop International.
