"Partisipasi wanita dalam politik di Korea Selatan pada dasarnya mengalami kesulitan dikarenakan nilai patriarki yang mengakar dalam masyarakatnya. Hal tersebut membuat kemunculan politikus Park Geun-Hye dan Sim Sang-Jung dalam pemilihan presiden Korea Selatan ke-18 dan ke-19 pada 2012 dan 2017 menjadi sesuatu yang menarik untuk dikaji, khususnya terkait dengan bagaimana media surat kabar mengkonstruksi identitas kedua tokoh. Dengan topik ini, maka tujuan penelitian adalah untuk menganalisis bagaimana media surat kabar Korea Selatan mengkonstruksi identitas tokoh politik wanita Park Geun-Hye dan Sim Sang-Jung. Penelitian dilakukan menggunakan metode deskriptif analisis dengan teori identitas. Adapun sumber data untuk analisis adalah artikel berita daring yang diterbitkan pada masa pemilihan Presiden Korea Selatan ke-18 dan ke-19 yaitu pada 2012 dan 2017. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan dari setiap media dalam mengkonstruksi identitas kedua tokoh. Pemberitaan terkait Park Geun-Hye menggunakan pendekatan primodialisme yang dibuktikan dengan konten pemberitaan Park Geun-Hye yang umumnya mengaitkan sosoknya dengan ayahnya, Park Chung-Hee. Sementara identitas Sim Sang-Jung banyak dikonstruksi dengan pendekatan konstruktivisme yang mengaitkan sosoknya dengan masa lalunya sebagai aktivis buruh.

The political participation of women in South Korea basically faces difficulties because of the patriarchy that is rooted in Korean society. This made the emergence of politicians Park Geun-Hye and Sim Sang-Jung in the 18th and 19th presidential elections of the 2012 and 2017 became interesting, especially in relation to how mass media constructed Identity of both figures.

This study aims to analyse how South Korean mass media constructed the identities of women`s political figures Park Geun-Hye and Sim Sang-Jung. Research is conducted using descriptive analysis method with identity theory. The data sources are online news articles published during the 18th and 19th President of the Korean presidential election, 2012 and 2017.

Results show that there is a difference between each media in constructing the identity of both figures. The news related to Park Geun-Hye used a primodialism approach evidenced by the news content of Park Geun-Hye which generally attributed her figure to her father, Park Chung-Hee. While the identity of Sim Sang-Jung is much constructed with a constructivism approach that associates her figure with her past as a Labour activist."

Melaluidrama Overtones, Alice Gerstenberg menyoroti isu beban domestik perempuanpada awal abad 20 yang berat sehingga berdampak bagi kondisi psikis mereka;perempuan dikondisikan untuk tidak memiliki hak atas diri dan suaranya sendirisehingga mereka rentan terhadap keretakan diri. Hal tersebut diungkap melaluidua tokoh perempuan Harriet dan Margaret sebagai cultured woman; sebuah hasilkonstruksi diri patriarki yang harus tampil dengan sikap tidak murni sedangkansuara dan keinginan mereka yang murni, yang disebut sebagai primitive self, tidakdiizinkan untuk tampil ke permukaan. Melalui Feminis Psikoanalisa milik NancyChodorow terungkap bahwa masalah psikis perempuan yang berpotensimeretakkan diri perempuan telah dimulai sejak perempuan sejak masih kanak–kanak, bukan karena penis–envy melainkan dikarenakan adanya dominasipatriarki yang konstruktif terhadap diri perempuan. ABSTRACTThis thesis analyzes a one – act drama entitled Overtones by Alice Gerstenberg(1916) using Feminist Psychoanalysis theory. Overtones by Alice Gerstenberghighlight the issue of women's domestic burden in the early 20th century thatmade women were vulnerable to the mental health issue. In this matter, womenwere conditioned not to have the right for their own voice even for their ownselves. This situation lead them to the splitting self and it was revealed by twofemale characters Harriet and Margaret as cultured woman – a self constractedby patriarchy – should appear without pure desire. Unlike the pure desire, whichis referred to primitive self, was not allowed to come out to the surface. NancyChodorow sees this problem through her theory, Feminist Psychoanalysis. Shediscovered that women psychic is vulnerable to such problem as it started sincethe younghood, not the penis – envy; women had experienced a sever constructiveself under the patriarchy domination. This problem stands as a major pointtoward the failure on women self identity achievement."

"Penelitian ini memiliki tujuan untuk menganalisis konstruksi identitas perempuan pada tiga majalah perempuan di Indonesia, yaitu: Cosmopolitan, Femina, dan Kartini, melalui representasi gaya hidup, nilai individual, dan relasi gender. Metode analisis yang digunakan adalah analisis wacana dari pemikiran Norman Fairclough dan analisis framing dan pemikiran Gamson & Modigliani. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa artikel pada majalah perempuan masih mengaitkan identitas perempuan dengan ketubuhan dan kecenderungan membentuk nilai femininitas. Selain itu, masih ditemukan bahasa yang seksis dalam teks. Meskipun artikel pada majalah perempuan dapat memotivasi perempuan untuk aktualisasi eksploitasi perempuan dalam artikel tetap ada. Ini menunjukkan bahwa jumalis perempuan pads majalah perempuan masih bias dalam penulisan dan reportase isu perempuan. Kondisi tersebut dikarenakan ideologi patriarki yang masih dominan di tempat keija dan masyarakat. Di sisi lain, kapitalisme masih mempengaruhi aktivitas media sehingga turut mempengaruhi pembentukan identitas perempuan. Akibat ketergantungan majalah perempuan pada iklan, mendorong pembaca menjadi konsumtif karena secara tidak disadari, pembaca telah dijadikan sebagai target sasaran iklan tersebut, melalui Cara mempromosikan femininitas dalam tampilan praktik konsumsi.

Representation of Women's Identity: Construction of Identity's Consciousness By Women's Magazine (Text Feature Analysis in Femina, Martini, and Cosmopolitan Magazine on April The aim of this research analyze women's identity construction in three women's magazine in Indonesia, with samples: Cosmopolitan, Femina, and Kartini by representing the lifestyle, personal values, and gender relation. Adopting to the Norman Fairciough's discourse analysis and Gamson & Modigliani's framing analisys, this research shows that articles in the women's magazines is still relating the women identity with the women's body and tendencies to construct the feminine values. Also found in this research that sews language is still used in the texts. Although the articles can motivate women for self actualization, but exploiting women in the articles is still exist. It shows that women reporters in the women `s magazine is still bias in writing and reporting women issues. It's because of the patriarchy ideology are still dominant in the work place and society. In other hand, capitalism in economic is also influencing the media activities, so it also influencing the construction of women identities. Dependencies of the women magazine to advertisement, without notice by the reader, it makes them becoming the main target of commercialization, with promoting feminity through appearance of practical comsuption, that will encourage the readers become consumtive."

"Film merupakan media yang berpengaruh cukup besar bagi masyarakat dengan menyebarkan pengetahuan tentang berbagai isu. Pada film Butterfly on a Wheel, terdapat banyak petanda isu kesetaraan gender dan beberapa di antaranya memiliki keterkaitan dengan pandangan generasi muda Indonesia mengenai eksistensi ideologi gender yang dominan. Masyarakat dunia, khususnya mayoritas di Indonesia, masih meyakini bahwa kaum pria selalu lebih unggul dibandingkan kaum wanita. Pria cenderung melakukan pekerjaan yang bersifat logis dan publik, sementara wanita cenderung hanya mengikuti naluri atau kodratnya sebagai ibu dan pekerja rumah tangga. Dengan mengacu pada konsep semiotika yang dipaparkan oleh Barthes, jurnal ini menggarisbawahi bahwa terdapat indikasi semiotik pada film Butterfly on a Wheel yang bertentangan dengan ide ketidaksetaraan gender dan konsep patriarki. Jurnal ini juga terfokus pada hubungan timbal balik antara isu-isu dalam film dan pandangan generasi muda Indonesia mengenai kekuatan, kekuasaan, dan nilai wanita sebagai kaum subordinat. Jurnal ini menarik kesimpulan pula bahwa film tidak hanya membahas satu isu di dalamnya, namun pada frame atau jalan cerita tertentu dapat membahas beberapa informasi lainnya sesuai dengan perspektif masyarakat masing-masing.

This paper examines various signs of gender equality in the film Butterfly on a Wheel and how they are related to young Indonesians’ perspectives about the existence of a dominant gender ideology. Since then, many people all over the world, especially Indonesian society, still believe that men are more superior to women. Men tend to do public logical works while women tend to follow natural instincts as mothers and wives. For example, men are working for family, and women are nurturing children. Using Barthes’ concept of semiotics, it is argued that the film has several semiotic indications which encounter the idea of gender inequality and the concept of patriarchy. In this respect, it is also important to focus on the interrelationship between the resistance in the film and young Indonesians’ viewpoints about the power and the value of women as subordinate. The paper concludes that the film is a substantial media that influence spectators by spreading the new information and knowledge about a variety of issues which appear in the storyline and certain frames of the film."
