"Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui manajemen privasi komunikasi remaja gay dalam berkomunikasi menggunakan akun alter twitter. Subjek yang diteliti merupakan remaja gay pengguna akun alter twitter yang berada di rentang usia remaja akhir. Manajemen privasi komunikasi yang dikemukakan Petronio digunakan sebagai teori dalam membahas cara penggunaan akun alter oleh remaja gay yang berujung pada strategi komunikasi yang dipilih dalam berinteraksi. Penelitian ini menggunakan paradigma konstruktivis dengan pendekatan kualitatif serta strategi etnografi virtual. Melalui wawancara serta observasi pada akun twitter remaja gay ditemukan bahwa terjadi restrukturisasi set karakteristik privasi saat para remaja gay berkomunikasi di dunia virtual. Orientasi seksual serta informasi pribadi juga ditunjukkan melalui fitur yang disediakan oleh twitter. Manajemen privasi komunikasi remaja gay dalam penelitian ini berbentuk filtrasi konten yang diunggah, filtrasi resipien informasi, serta penggunaan istilah yang hanya diketahui pengguna alter twitter.

This research aims to understand about communication privacy management of gay youth in communicating by using alter twitter. Subject of this research is gay youth in late adolescence. Communication Privacy Management theory by Petronio is used as a theory to discuss the use of alter twitter by gay youth, which will lead to their communication strategies. This research use constructivism as its paradigm, with qualitative as its approach, and virtual ethnography as its strategic. Through in-depth interview and observation towards gay youth alter twitter account, it was found that there’s a restructuration of privacy rules when they communicate virtually. They show their sexual orientation by using several features in twitter. Communication privacy management in this thesis is in the form of content type filtration, filtration recipient, and use of terms and abbreviation which only known by users of alter account in twiiter."
