ABSTRAKThe King 39;s Speech 2010 menceritakan tentang Pangeran Albert yang kemudian menjadi Raja George VI dan Lionel Logue yang membahas isu tentang kepercayaan diri, persahabatan, dan komitmen. Selama menjalani perawatan akan kesulitan Pangeran Albert dalam berbicara, beberapa masalah muncul sehingga memperkuat kepribadian dari dua karakter utama. Meskipun ada beberapa penelitian tentang film ini, tidak ada penelitian yang meneliti karakter Lionel Logue yang menjadi penentu kesuksesan raja. Makalah ini akan menganalisis struktur kepribadian Lionel Logue dan penggunaan mekanisme pertahanan untuk menggantikan keinginannya yang tak terpenuhi. Dengan menggunakan konsep Sigmund Freud tentang id, ego dan superego serta mekanisme pertahanan, makalah ini membedah lebih jauh keinginan dari Lionel Logue untuk memahami motif dibalik tindakan dan keputusannya. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk membahas faktor dan keadaan yang menciptakan seseorang, yaitu Lionel Logue.
ABSTRACTThe King rsquo;s Speech 2010 is a successful biographical movie that tells about Prince Albert later becomes King George VI and Lionel Logue during the treatment of Prince Albert rsquo;s speech defect which explores the issue of self-confidence, friendship, and commitment. During the treatment, there are several problems that arise which strengthen the personality of the two main characters. Although there are several studies on this movie, no studies have examined the character of Lionel Logue on whom the King rsquo;s success depends. This paper will analyse Lionel Logue rsquo;s structure of personality and the uses of defense mechanisms to displace the character rsquo;s unfulfilled desire. By using Sigmund Freud rsquo;s concept of id, ego, and superego as well as defense mechanisms, this paper dissects further the desires of Lionel Logue to understand the motives behind his actions and decisions. The aim of this research is to examine the factors and circumstances that create the individual that is Lionel Logue."
