"Penelitian ini membahas tentang faktor-faktor yang mempercepat kebijakan pemerintah George W Bush atas rencana penarikan pasukan Amerika Serikat di Irak. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif. Data-data yang digunakan adalah data sekunder. Data sekunder diperoleh dari berbagai tulisan terkait yang dimuat dalam beragam publikasi seperti jurnal, buku, majalah, bahan internet, dan surat kabar. Dalam upaya menjawab permasalahan penelitian diatas penelitian ini menggunakan teori element-element of power yang diajukan oleh Vandana. Didalam penelitian ini ditemukan bahwa tahun 2007, Amerika Serikat mengalami kemunduran ekonomi. Dengan indikator kemunduran ekonomi tersebut, antara lain : jatuhnya nilai tukar Dollar terhadap Euro, naiknya harga minyak dunia, serta terjadinya kredit macet dalam industri perumahan di Amerika Serikat. Hal ini mengakibatkan Bank Sentral Amerika Serikat harus melakukan pemotongan suku bunga. Disamping itu penyebab lain terjadinya inflasi di Amerika Serikat ialah masalah efisiensi anggaran, dimana pemerintah Amerika Serikat telah mengeluarkan anggaran yang begitu besar untuk invasi Amerika Serikat ke Irak. Perubahan situasi politik juga terjadi di Amerika Serikat dimana Partai Demokrat berhasil memenangkan pemilihan umum pada tahun 2006 dan menduduki mayoritas Kongres di Amerika Serikat. Sehingga pemerintah George W Bush selalu mendapatkan halangan atas berbagai kebijakannya terutama masalah Irak. Hal ini disebabkan karena Partai Demokrat adalah partai yang sangat menentang invasi Amerika Serikat ke Irak Disamping itu opini publik Amerika Serikat juga menentang penyerangan Amerika Serikat ke Irak, karena menurut mereka, invasi tersebut telah bertentangan dengan hak-hak asasi manusia dan telah menelan korban sipil terlalu banyak di pihak Irak dan juga korban dari tentara Amerika Serikat. Masyarakat internasional juga menentang invasi tersebut. Bentuk penentangan tersebut ialah berbagai pertemuan diadakan oleh negara-negara di dunia yang menolak invasi Amerika Serikat ke Irak. Pertemuan tersebut menghasilkan deklarasi dan berbagai persetujuan untuk mendesak keluarnya pasukan Amerika Serikat dari Irak agar masyarakat Irak dapat membangun kembali negaranya. Dari berbagai keterangan diatas, dapat dilihat bahwa kemunduran ekonomi, situasi politik, opini publik, dan keterlibatan kekuatan internasional merupakan faktor-faktor yang mempercepat kebijakan pemerintah George W Bush atas rencana penarikan pasukan Amerika Serikat dari Irak. Meskipun demikian, keterlibatan kekuatan internasional tidak begitu signifikan pengaruhnya terhadap kebijakan domestik Amerika Serikat. Karena sesungguhnya masalah ekonomi, situasi politik, dan opini publik adalah elemen-elemen ataupun instrumen dalam penentuan kebijakan dalam negeri suatu negara.

This research discusses about the factors which quiken the policy of George W Bush rules on the plan of United States forces draw in Iraq. It is descriptive research, and the data used is secondary data. These data were compiled based on various of publication such as journal, books, magazines, internet sources, and newspaper. In the effort to answer the problems above, this research used the theory of the elements of power as promoted by Vandana Shiva In this research, founded that in 2007, the United States suffered the economic reduces with the indicators such as : the fall of Dollar exchange for Euro, the increasing of world oil price, and the jamming of the debt in real estate industry in United States. These cause the Central Bank of the United States must accomplish some interest rate cuts. Beside other causes for inflation in United States, the budget efficiency, where the government of United States has issued such enormous budget for its invasion in Iraq. The changes of political atmosphere also happened in United States where Democrate Party succeded to win the general election in 2006 and has majority seats for Congress in United States. So that, the rule of George W Bush has some obstractions for his policies especially for Iraq crisis. This is caused that Democrate is the party which is very opposite againts the invasion of the United States to Iraq. In addition, the United States public opinions againts this invasion, according to them, has been opposite againts the human rights and suffered a lot of casualties either Iraqis or American soldier. The international communities disagree in this. It is proven, various meets and talks have been held by whole countries rejected this invasion, and they have resulted some declarations and agreements to push United States forces out of Iraq in order Iraqis can rebuild their country. Based on above, it can be seen that economic reduces, political atmosphere, public opinions, and the involvement of international powers are the factors which quiken the policy of George W Bush rules on the plan of United States forces draw in Iraq. Therefore, the involvement of international powers are not so significant for the influences of the United States domestic policy. Because economic problems, political atmosphere and public opinions are the only elements or instruments for the internal policy affairs in a country."

"Pada tahun 1973, Amerika Serikat (AS) mengesahkan kebijakan praktik aborsi. Hal ini ditentang oleh sebagian masyarakat AS yang tidak menyetujui adanya praktik aborsi, sehingga masyarakat AS menjadi terpolarisasi menjadi dua, yaitu kelompok pendukung aborsi atau American Ways dan kelompok penentang aborsi atau New Christian Right (NCR). Penelitian ini mengambil pengesahan praktik aborsi oleh George W. Bush pada tahun 2003 sebagai lingkup penelitian. Sejak pengesahan kebijakan aborsi tahun 1973, tokoh-tokoh NCR berusaha menentang dan memperjuangkan menuntut pemerintah agar membatalkan atau mencabut kebijakan tersebut. Tokoh-tokoh NCR berpendapat bahwa praktik aborsi merupakan tindakan dosa dan dapat mengakibat pada kematian. Namun, dalam memperjuangkan pelarangan praktik aborsi tokoh-tokoh NCR memiliki dua kepentingan, yaitu kepentingan ideologi dan kepentingan bisnis. Dalam kepentingan ideologi, tokoh-tokoh NCR memandang aborsi sebagai tindakan berdosa dan dilarangkan oleh agama sehingga pandangan tersebut dinilai konservatif oleh sebagian kalangan masyarakat yang mendukung aborsi. Sedangkan dalam kepentingan bisnis, Tokoh-tokoh NCR melihat bahwa adanya peluang memperkaya kekayaannya melalui pengalihan dana dari anggaran pemerintah untuk aborsi yang tidak terpakai ketika pengesahan pelarangan praktik aborsi. Oleh sebab itu, tokoh-tokoh NCR berusaha mempengaruhi pemerintah untuk mengeluarkan dan mengesahkan pelarangan praktik aborsi.
