"Film sebagai seni terdiri dari unsur-unsur formal yang artistik. Industri film memiliki peran besar untuk menghadirkan film ke tengah-tengah masyarakat. Namun, film yang dihadirkan industri film cenderung tidak memiliki kualitas seni yang baik. Film hanya sebagai komoditas. Hal ini dikarenakan film yang dihadirkan hanya sekedar film cerita lewat bahasa verbal. Akibatnya penonton menerima pemahaman film seni yang keliru. Ontologi dasar film adalah gambar bergerak yang mampu menciptakan bahasa visual yang artistik. Pada film hiburan, dialog justru mendominasi sehingga mempersingkat proses interpretasi penonton. Berbeda dengan film bisu yang memaksimalkan gambar bergerak sebagai medium berekspresi. Skripsi ini membahas bagaimana melihat film sebagai seni visual berkaca dari film hiburan.

Film as art consists of artistic formal elements. Film industry has a major role in bringing film to the society. However, the film presented by film industry tend not to art. The film simply as a commodity which considers telling stories more important then expression. Consequently, the audience received wrong understanding of film as art. Basic ontology of film is motion picture which has capabilities to create visual language. Dialog in film dominates picture thus shortening the audience interpretation. Unlike the silent film which maximize motion picture as medium of expression. This thesis is about how to perceive film as visual art."
