"Narasi Amerindian ditransformasikan secara lintas media. Proses alih wahana buku Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee (BMHWK) yang diterbitkan pertama kali pada tahun 1907 menjadi film dengan judul Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee (BMHWK) di tahun 2007 dan menjadi buku dengan judul Saga of the Sioux (SoS) di tahun 2011 mengonstruksi narasi peristiwa Wounded Knee dan memosisikan Amerindian dalam tatanan sosial, politik, dan budaya Amerika. Dengan menggunakan metode alih wahana, analisis dilakukan dengan mengungkap strategi pemertahanan (inclusion), penghilangan (exclusion), pemampatan (compression), penggantian (substitution), perluasan (extension), pengurutan ulang (re-sequencing), dan penciptaan (invention). Alih wahana teks BHMWK memperlihatkan kompleksitas identitas Amerindian. Hal ini diperkuat dengan bias dari ketiga pengarang kulit putih yang menyuarakan kepentingan Amerindian. Di sisi lain, transformasi ke film menunjukkan posisi film yang mendukung program kulit putih Amerika. Film BMHWK memperlihatkan narasi kaum kulit putih Amerika yang lebih dominan. Film ini mengafirmasi program asimilasi. Transformasi ke buku SoS menunjukkan proses pelembutan bahasa dan reduksi vulgaritas. Buku SoS mengubah narasi penderitaan Amerindian menjadi perjuangan suku Sioux. Penyederhanaan dalam buku SoS menempatkan suku Sioux sebagai aktor penting dalam sejarah mengenai Amerindian. Selain itu, buku ini memperlihatkan bahwa sejarah suku Sioux tidak berhenti pada peristiwa Wounded Knee tetapi terus berlanjut sampai saat ini. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan simplikasi permasalahan Amerindian dan menempatkan Amerindian sebagai objek subordinat kaum kulit putih.

Amerindian narratives have been transformed across media. The process of transforming the book Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee (BMHWK), which was first published in 1907, into a movie titled Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee (BMHWK) in 2007 and into a book titled Saga of the Sioux (SoS) in 2011 constructs the narrative of the Wounded Knee event and positions Amerindians in the American social, political, and cultural order. Using the adaptation method, the analysis is conducted by revealing strategies of inclusion, exclusion, compression, substitution, extension, re-sequencing, and invention. The adaptation of the BHMWK text shows the complexity of Amerindian identity. This is reinforced by the bias of the three white authors who voice Amerindian interests. On the other hand, the transformation to film shows the film's position supporting the white American program. The movie BMHWK shows the dominant white American narrative. The film affirms the assimilation program. The transformation to the SoS book shows the process of softening language and reducing vulgarity. The SoS book transforms the narrative of Amerindian suffering into the struggle of the Sioux. The simplification in the SoS book places the Sioux tribe as an important actor in the history of the Amerindians. In addition, this book shows that the history of the Sioux tribe does not stop at Wounded Knee but continues to this day. This study shows the simplification of Amerindian issues and places Amerindians as subordinate objects of white people."
