"After a brief review and modeling of Javanese land cover units, an assessment of the operational cartographic capability of SPOT in Indonesia is presented. For full images, basic manipulations of level 1B SPOT digital data and photographs provide standard deviation accuracies towards local TM maps of 2 and 3 pixels, respectively. Due to the poor reliability of most TM maps, SPOT should undoubtedly be set as a major cartographic data source in Indonesia."

"This paper discusses the SPOT simulation performances with Toulouse area as an example. An overflight of the area was made resampling of 10 m and 20 m resolution combining with XS1 and CS2 in the creation of the simulation image was used in an effort to study the urban area. Manual interpretation without field checks is used in this study. Toulouse urban land use can be distinguished and is easily delineated, Based on spectral characteristics, roof reflectance, road pattern, texture, and shape analysis the relative urbanization can be known. The relative network density can be measured so that the building and population density can be estimated using the SPOT simulation image."
