"De Oost, adalah film perang di tahun 1946 antara orang Belanda dengan orang Indonesia. Hal menarik dalam film ini adalah digunakannya alih kode dan campur kode oleh dua tokoh utama Johan dan Raymond. Pertanyaan penelitiannya adalah bagaimana wujud dan latar belakang penggunaan alih kode dan campur kode dalam film De Oost oleh dua tokoh utama. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah memaparkan wujud dan latar belakang terjadinya alih kode dan campur kode oleh dua tokoh utama film De Oost dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif dan teori tentang alih kode dan campur kode menurut pendapat Appel, Soewito dan Chaer. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa faktor dominan penyebab terjadinya alih kode dan campur kode adalah faktor tuturan dan mitra tutur diikuti oleh faktor perubahan situasi, dan tidak adanya pilihan kata yang tepat.

The Dutch film De Oost, is a war film in 1946 between the Dutch and the Indonesians. The interesting thing in this film is the use of code switching and code mixing by the two main characters Johan and Raymond. The research question is what is the form and background of the use of code switching and code mixing in the film De Oost by the two main characters. The purpose of this study is to describe the form and background of the occurrence of code switching and code mixing by the two main characters of the film De Oost using qualitative methods and theories about code switching and code mixing according to Appel, Soewito and Chaer's opinion. The results showed that the dominant factor causing code switching and code mixing was the speech factor and the speech partner followed by the situation change factor, and the absence of the right choice of words."
