"Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memaparkan alur dalam cerita pahlawan sebagai manifestasi dari pembentukan kepribadian individu. Kepribadian individu yang dianalisis adalah tokoh utama bernama Sinclair dalam novel berjudul Demian: Die Geschichte von Emil Sinclair Jugend. Pembentukan kepribadian Sinclair sebagai manifestasi kisah pahlawan dapat dilihat dengan menganalisis perkembangan kepribadian dari masa kanak-kanak hingga dewasa, serta menganalisis relasinya dengan tokoh-tokoh lain yang muncul di dalam novel. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori arketipe pahlawan Carl Gustav Jung dan tahapan perjalanan pahlawan Joseph Campbell. Dari hasil analisis, terlihat bahwa alur dan struktur tokoh dalam novel sesuai dengan yang digunakan, yaitu tiap-tiap tokoh memiliki peran dan fungsi tersendiri dalam pembentukan kepribadian Sinclair.

The objective of this study is to describe the plot of the hero's story as a manifestation of personality formation. The studied personality is the main character in the novel Demian: Die Geschichte von Emil Sinclair Jugend named Sinclair. Sinclair's personality as a manifestation of the hero story can be seen by analyzing the development of personality from childhood to adulthood, and to analyze its relation to other character who appear in the novel. This study uses the theory of Carl Gustav Jung's archetypes of the hero and Joseph Campbell's seventeen stages of monomyth. From the analysis, appears that the plot and characters structure in the novel are in accordance with the theory used. Each character has its own role and function in Sinclair's formation of personality."

"Mimpi merupakan bahasa simbolik dari ketidaksadaran manusia. Dalam proses individuasi, mimpi merepresentasikan motif-motif yng merupakan manifestasi dari arketipe. Representasi inilah yang mengkonfrontasikan ego dengan arketipenya tersebut. Film Inception menggambarkan konfrontasi ini dalam relasi antara tokoh protagonis dan antagonisnya. Dengan konfrontasi ini, ego menyadari dirinya pada konsep Diri. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Psikologi Analitis Carl Gustav Jung.

Dream is the symbolic language of human’s unconsciousness. In the individuation, dream represents motives that are manifestation from archetype. This representation confronts ego with archetypes. The film Inception shows this confrontation in a relation between the protagonist and antagonist character. By this confrontation, the ego realizes itself with the concept of The Self. The method used in this research is Carl Gustav Jung’s Analytical Psychology."
