Gender equality is a critical issue in organizations worldwide, and understanding its dynamics within specific contexts is essential for promoting inclusive and equitable workplaces. The study used Acker's Theory of Gendered Organizations to investigate the practice of gender equality and to analyze the impact of gender mainstreaming in the Indonesian Ministry of Finance (MoF), a significant government institution responsible for shaping economic policies and financial decision-making in the country. The data was collected through interviews with 31 participants that were selected through purposeful sampling in 2023. The qualitative method chosen to capture the experiences and perspectives of employees in the workplace. The findings identify four critical themes that either hinder or support gender equality within institutions: The finding identifies four important themes that either hinder or support gender equality in institutions: (a) Gender-Perspective Organizational Processes, (b) Ideal Worker Narratives and Double Burden, (c) Implicit Gender Norms, and (d) Workplace Organizational Logic, as well as employees' perceptions of and the Implementation of Gender Mainstreaming (PUG). This study demonstrates the value of using Joan Acker's Gendered Organization theory to understand the gendered nature of the institution as a workplace. It highlights the need for ongoing research to promote gender equality in government organizations."

Public facilities within the city area are expected to meet the needs of citizens in daily urban life. However, many public facilities are considered gendered as masculine space. This spatial imbalance between masculine space and feminine space affects women's involvement in the use of public facilities inside the city. Kevin Lynch's "Performance Dimensions theory in ‘A Theory of Good City Form’ explains how Fit, Access and Control become critical for achieving good spatial qualities inside the city. In Indonesia, patriarchal culture that develops inside the society influences the impression on the way we see gender, which can limit their presence in public spaces. However, public spaces should be accessible by all genders to meet their basic needs such as interaction, information, and commuting inside the city. Spatial qualities such as safety, comfort, and pleasure also need to be provided in public spaces within the city. This paper will look at the performativity of public spaces to fulfill gender’s needs and how the city provides their basic needs as part of its community."

""In this book new book, the author draws on anthropology, feminism and psychoanalysis to develop an original and provocative theory of gender and of how we become sexed beings." ... "Using detailed ethnographic data from Melanesia and Africa to explore the strengths and weaknesses of a range of theories in anthropology, feminism and psychoanalysis, the author advocates an ethics of engagement based on a detailed understanding of our differences and similarities in the ways in which local communities and western scholars have imaginatively deployed the power of sexual difference. She demonstrates the importance of ethbnographic listening, of focused attention to people's imaginations, and of how this illuminates different facets of complex theoretical issues and human conundrums"."
