"Tesis ini membahas nilai strategis Ukraina bagi Rusia dalam menjaga supremasinya di kawasan Eropa Timur. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan desain analitis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Rusia menggunakan strategi yang sangat aktif dan ofensif dalam menyikapi krisis di Ukraina, khususnya mengenai Krimea, berbeda ketika Rusia menghadapi ekspansi NATO di negara-negara Eropa Timur lainnya. Ukraina merupakan negara dengan wilayah yang strategis di Eropa Timur yang mendorong aktor-aktor internasional bersaing untuk menguasai Ukraina. Ukraina menjadi arena perebutan pengaruh antara NATO dan Uni Eropa dengan Rusia. Militer dikerahkan untuk mengamankan kepentingan Rusia di Ukraina. Bagi Rusia, Ukraina merupakan benteng terakhir dalam membendung ekspansi NATO di Eropa Timur.

The aim of this thesis is to describe about strategic value of Ukraine for Russia to maintain its supremacy in the Eastern European region. This research is a qualitative study with analytical design. The results showed that Russia are using very active and aggressive strategy in responding the crisis in Ukraine, especially in Crimean Peninsula, unlike when Russia faced NATO expansion in another Eastern Europe countries. Ukraine is a country with a strategic area in Eastern Europe which encourages international actors compete for controlling Ukraine. Ukraine became the arena of the struggle for influence between NATO and the European Union with Russia. Military deployed to secure Russia?s interests in Ukraine. For Russia, Ukraine is the last base to stem NATO expansion in Eastern Europe."
