"Skripsi ini membahas tentang Koninklijk Nederlands Indisch Leger KNIL pada masa kemerdekaan hingga Agresi Militer I. KNIL sebelumnya merupakan tentara bentukan pemerintah kolonial yang berfungsi untuk mengamankan dan menaklukan wilayah nusantara sejak awal pembentukannya di tahun 1830-1942. Pada tahun 1942 ketika wilayah Hindia Belanda jatuh ke tangan Jepang, KNIL dibubarkan. Sebagian besar prajuritnya ditahan dan sebagian perwiranya berhasil melarikan diri ke Australia. Lalu pada tahun 1945 setelah Jepang kalah dalam Perang Pasifik, Belanda berkeinginan untuk menjajah kembali wilayah Indonesia. Salah satu caranya adalah dengan membentuk kembali tentara KNIL. Selama proses pembentukan itu berbagai kebijakan dilakukan seperti reorganisasi, dan perekrutan kembali. Setelah berhasil membangun kembali KNIL, Belanda melanjutkan aksi nyata penjajahan dengan tindakan agresi militer pertamanya pada tahun 1947 di wilayah Jawa dan Sumatera.

This thesis discusses the Royal Netherlands East Indies Army KNIL at the time of independence to Colonial Army Military Aggression I. Firstly, an army formed by the colonial government serves to secure and conquer the archipelago since the beginning of its establishment in the year 1830 to 1942. In 1942 when the Dutch East Indies fell to the Japanese, KNIL was disbanded. Most of the soldiers were detained and some officers managed to escape to Australia. Then, in 1945 after Japan 39 s defeat in the Pacific War, the Netherlands wishes to re colonize Indonesia. One way is to reshape the Colonial Army soldiers. During the process of formation, various policies carried out such reorganization and recruitment back. After successfully rebuild KNIL, the Dutch continued occupation of real action with his first act of military aggression in 1947 in Java and Sumatra."
