Connerton, Paul
"How is the memory of traumatic events, such as genocide and torture, inscribed within human bodies? In this book, Paul Connerton discusses social and cultural memory by looking at the role of mourning in the production of histories and the reticence of silence across many different cultures. In particular he looks at how memory is conveyed in gesture, bodily posture, speech and the senses - and how bodily memory, in turn, becomes manifested in cultural objects such as tattoos, letters, buildings and public spaces. It is argued that memory is more cultural and collective than it is individual. This book will appeal to researchers and students in anthropology, linguistic anthropology, sociology, social psychology and philosophy."

Tanović, Sabina
"This innovative study of memorial architecture investigates how design can translate memories of human loss into tangible structures, creating spaces for remembering. Using approaches from history, psychology, anthropology and sociology, Sabina Tanović explores purposes behind creating contemporary memorials in a given location, their translation into architectural concepts, their materialisation in the face of social and political challenges, and their influence on the transmission of memory. Covering the period from the First World War to the present, she looks at memorials such as the Holocaust museums in Mechelen and Drancy, as well as memorials for the victims of terrorist attacks, to unravel the private and public role of memorial architecture and the possibilities of architecture as a form of agency in remembering and dealing with a difficult past. The result is a distinctive contribution to the literature on history and memory, and on architecture as a link to the past."

"Hardware Fault-Tolerance is the set of techniques to remain operational after a fault by design. Programmable Logic Devices are good platforms to implement Hardware Fault-Tolerant techniques by utilizing abundant resources and facilitating self healing operations. In this paper we propose a hardware fault—tolerant architecture to duplicate components in order to replace faulty ones. The
proposed architecture is markedly different from other works that mostly focuses on reconfiguring and evolving logic units rather than our evolvable memory units. The self-reparation process for a memory failure is the reallocation and synchronization of memory content. The internal flip-flops form an abundant reconfigurable resource and are reconfigured to work as newly created memory.
The proposed architecture has been downloaded and tested on a real F PGA development board and has satisfied all of its pre-defined specifications."

This study aims to explore the potential of architectural narrative driven by fragments of the memory. In the process, boundaries and spatial qualities of architecture are identified through fragments of memory. Architectural discourses have long explored the narrative approach. However, in the era of advanced technology we now live in, where construction has reached the virtual realm and gravity is no longer relevant, architecture is now able to transcend beyond the existing physical boundaries to optimise its capacity in conveying a narration. Through this study, based on the notion of memory palace, the author aims to utilise architecture as a medium to communicate the journey of the author's life memories and invite the reader to experience the journey as well. In this study, the memory palace method serves as the operation system of spatial construction, where memory fragments are to be reconstructed based on a path of the memory journey. Finally, this exploration aims to contribute to the architecture design method driven by narrative. Narrative architecture driven by memory fragments allows architecture to bring to life our memory within the space and time, to become more personal, and also to transcend the conventional physical limitations."

Experience that recorded in humans memory is the basis of humans act, the collection of this record create the value of human. In response to their environment, human leave traces of which the assemblies of traces create milieu, so that space can depict their inhabitant. In the other hand, human decrease their capability to do their activity as they goes older which affect in reduction of their value, especially if the environment doesnt connects with them. If memory actmilieu identity  linked to each other, what if one day human forget their identity as what happen in Alzheimers? Alzheimers cant respond their environment as well as they forget their usual activity. One way to keep their memories themselves is creating memory box, a box with the collection of objects that stimulate 4 sense inside it. Because of theres connection between human and their environment, Alzheimers could be more close and live in their memories when memory box can be implemented as architecture. Space with its physical characteristic would be understood by human through identification-orientatio-inhabitation process as an effort to recall memories. The understanding process of spaces milieu which from the assemblies of cues is the important phase of spaces exploration. If architecture can be identified as memory box, so that prove architecture can play a role in memories retention and enhancement of life quality of Alzheimers.

ABSTRACT
Memories are obtained and stored in minds they appear only when one tries to remember. A memory of an architecture site is obtained when one experiences it as a routine. Abundance of time spent in experiencing architecture turns space into place for the one who experiences it. There is a connection between human, space, and objects within. Mmenomic devices, as triggers of memories, are spread across the architecture the one that was experienced by the human be it the space itself or the furniture within. In Kampung Laweyan, there exist several houses once owned by saudagar batik in 1900s, now owned by their descendants. There are many memories stored, stories to be told, as in the owners 39 eyes, the houses are not mere space, but place. "
