"Artikel ini membahas kosmologi Islam dalam pandangan Hamzah Fansuri. Secara umum, Hamzah Fansuri menjadikan doktrin metafisika wujudiyyah dan manifestasi Ilahi (tajalli) sebagai pondasi untuk menjelaskan hubungan ontologis antara Tuhan dengan kosmos. Di dalam penelitian ini juga menyertakan pemikiran-pemikirannya seperti Pengetahuan Tuhan, penolakan doktrin creation ex nihilo, esensi-esensi tetap, kehendak Ilahi, Hikmah Tuhan, makro dan mikrokosmos. Pada intinya, Hamzah Fansuri berpendapat bahwa substansi kosmos adalah Nafas Yang Maha Pengasih (Nafās ar-Rahmān). Penelitian ini sangatlah penting, mengingat Hamzah Fansuri adalah salah seorang sarjana yang berasal dari Nusantara yang lebih dikenal sebagai penyair mistik daripada sebagai seorang filsuf yang memiliki sebuah doktrin kosmologi. Oleh karena itu, kosmologinya sedikit sekali dikaji oleh para sarjana. Bagaimanapun, ini penting untuk menjawab pertanyaan mengenai realitas segala sesuatu, suatu pertanyaan yang ditanyakan sepanjang waktu. Penlitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan penulisan analitis deskriptif.

This article explores Islamic cosmology of Hamzah Fansuri. Generally, Hamzah Fansuri made his metaphysical doctrine, wujudiyyah, and the Divine Act of Self-Revelation (tajallī) as the foundation to explain the ontological relation between God and the cosmos. This article includes his thoughts such as the Divine Knowledge, therejection of creation ex nihilo, the fixed essences, God’s Will, the Effect of God’s Creative Activity or His Predisposition, the God’s Wisdom, the substance of the cosmos (macrocosm), and Human Being (microcosm). Essentially, Hamzah Fansuri argued that the substance of the cosmos is the ‘Breath’ of Most Compassionate (Nafās ar-Rahmān). This research is really important for Hamzah Fansuri is an original scholar of Nusantara who is better known as a mystic poet than the philosopher having a cosmological doctrine. Because of that, his cosmology is less studied by many scholars. Whereas it is important to answer the question about the reality of everything, the question which is asked all the time. This research uses qualitative approach with analytic descriptive method."

Metafora yang digunakannya pun terkait erat dengan tema-tema Sufisme yang terkandung di dalamnya.Untuk memahami metafora-metafora tersebut digunakanlah satu teori tentang metafora sebagai alat untuk mendedahnya. Teori yang digunakan sebagai alat tersebut adalah teori metafora konseptual Lakoff dan Johnson.

Metaphors that is used also closely connected with the themes of Sufism that are include within it. To comprehend all of those metaphors we used a theory as an equipment to operate it. This equipment is a conceptual metaphor theory by Lakoff and Johnson."
