This thesis discusses the understanding of Japanese culture through a Chado or tea ceremony. Tea ceremony, which is one of Japanese culture represents the values of Japanese culture; which is so complex. Qualitatively researched through descriptive design, the results suggest that Indonesian people need to understand Japanese culture before interacting with the Japanese; frame is very important to the Japanese people in positioning themselves in every size of daily life. Also it is found that there is a vertical and horizontal relation that affect how the interaction patterns of the Japanese."

This thesis discusses the meaning of the tradition of the tea ceremony in Japan (Chanoyu) and its relation to space. The tea ceremony in Japan is developing, starting from medicine to becoming a ceremonial ritual. Japanese tea ceremony is one of the hereditary cultures that is still actively carried out until now, where in Japanese society Buddhist culture and religious culture influences in every aspect of Japanese people's life, therefore the tea ceremony in Japan is interesting to discuss. The purpose of this research is to explain the meaning of Japanese tea ceremony and its relation to space with the application of Zen, Tao and Wabi-Sabi aesthetic principles.

This preliminary research describe reflectance optical characterization results of four varieties of tea leaf, as a basis of optical device configuration designing to measure watercontent in green tea leaf. The device configuration works by utilizing reflectance andabsorbance phenomena, consisting of LED (λ = 970 nm), cuvette, LED driver, beam splitter and photodiode. From that results could be concluded that the range variances of water content 6% - 57%, of teas has consistent relationship with the output device. This relationship is showing trend of negative slope with gradien -18 x 10-3."

"Green tea contains catechins that have inhibitory effects on amylase, sucrase, and sodium-dependent glucose transporter (SGLT) which result in lowering of postprandial blood glucose (PBG). This beneficial effect has been widely demonstrated using the usual dose (UD) of green tea preparation. Our study was aimed to explore futher lowering of PBG using high dose (HD) of green in healthy adolescents. 24 subjects received 100 mL infusion of either 0.67 or 3.33 grams of green tea with test meal. Fasting, PBG at 30, 60, 120 minutes were measured. Subjects were cross-overed after wash out. PBG and its incremental area under the curve (IAUC) difference between groups were analyzed with paired T-test. Cathecin contents of tea were measured using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).The PBG of HD group was lower compared to UD (at 60 minutes =113.70+-13.20 vs 124.16 +-8.17 mg/dL, p=0.005; at 120 minutes =88.95 +-6.13 vs 105.25 +-13.85 mg/dL, p < 0.001). The IAUC of HD was also found to be lower compared to UD (2022.0 vs 3411.9 min.mg/dL, p <0.001). Additional benefit of lowering PBG can be achieved by using higher dose of green tea. This study recommends preparing higher dose of green tea drinks for better control of PBG. "
