"Integrative therapies in lung health and sleep provides an overview of integrative therapies to assist clinicians caring for patients with acute or chronic lung diseases and sleep disorders--emphasizing the scientific bases for these therapies; and their implementation into clinical practice. This volume focuses on complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) treatments, modalities, and practices that are integrated with conventional medical treatment and for which there is some evidence of safety and efficacy. Whole medical systems, with a specific focus on traditional Chinese medicine , are also addressed. Individual chapters are devoted to specific health conditions or illnesses, addressing the current state of the science in the four organizing CAM domains, including available information regarding benefits, risks, or safety considerations. Unique aspects of this volume are the chapters related to evaluation of the evidence base for integrative therapies, new animal model research with herbal preparations focused on the serious problem of sepsis in the ICU, guidance for counseling patients with chronic lung illnesses who may be desperate for a cure; and palliative and end-of-life care for patients with chronic lung conditions.

ABSTRACT
This thesis discusses the autistic child who had problems with sensory processing and
integration. This problem can be treated with sensory experience and integration with
architectural aspects such as adjustment of sensory attributes and narrative sequences.
The teratment can be conducted through computer games. This thesis analyzes the
game Rufus Goes to School by exploring the architectural aspects in the game space.
Visual sensory attributes are present through representation of computer games with
sensory specific treatment. While the narrative sequence is present in the characters
that appear in the assigned qualities, namely the operation of gaming space and
elements of the game as a learning treatment for adaptation to repetitive character of
children with autism.

Abstract
Aim: To review the effi cacy and safety data on incretin-based therapies currently available (exenatide, liraglutide, sitagliptin, vildagliptin) for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in Asian population. Methods: We conducted Medline search of all relevant randomized clinical trials of incretin-based therapies for type 2 diabetes mellitus in Asian populations. Data pertinent to the effi cacy and safety of GLP-1 mimetics and DPP-4 inhibitors were extracted and used. Results: We found 14 randomized controlled trials of incretin based-therapy which included 3567 type 2 diabetes mellitus in Asian population (Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Indian). It was shown that incretin-based therapies improved HbA1c at higher extent (up to -1.42% in exenatide 10 mcg bid, -1.85% for liraglutide 0.9 mg qd, -1.4% for sitagliptin 100 mg and -1.4% for vildagliptin 50 mg bid) compared to the effects observed in studies with Caucasian population, with comparable safety profi le. Conclusion: The effi cacy of incretin-based therapies in Asian patients improved glycemic parameters in a higher magnitude on some glycemic parameters compared with those in Caucasian population. These results indicate that incretin-based therapies may be more effective in Asian population than in Caucasian"

"This book provides a comprehensive overview of the development of metabolic syndrome, the underlying mechanisms and therapeutic strategies for drug development. The authors examine the context of underlying molecular pathways and integrated physiology, then expanding the discussion to diseases associated with metabolic syndrome. The development of drug therapies for these diseases and complications is extensively covered. The book offers a comprehensive and in-depth view of energy metabolism, metabolic tissues and pathways, molecular mechanism-based drug discovery and clinical implications.
