"Film The Stepford Wives ini menjelaskan tentang emansipasi wanita dari gerakan feminisme yang telah menimbulkan rasa takut bagi posisi kaum pria. Mengacu kepada pernyataan K. Trigiani, kaum pria adalah kaum maskulin yang bersifat dominan atas kaum wanita atau feminin. Dalam makalah ini juga digunakan teori dari C. Jewitt mengenai konsep maskulinitas wimp dan homoseksual. Secara spesifik, para pria yang ada di dalam film tersebut menganut kedua konsep dari C. Jewitt. Para pria tersebut digambarkan sebagai kaum yang tidak hanya merasa tersaingi oleh emansipasi wanita, melainkan harga diri mereka juga terancam. Oleh karena itu, para pria tersebut mencoba untuk merebut kembali maskulinitas mereka melalui tindak diskriminasi terhadap para wanita.

The film The Stepford Wives explains about women emancipation from feminism movement that has caused the feeling of afraid for the men’s position. Refering to K. Trigiani’s statement, men are categorized as a group of masculines that are dominant over women or feminines.This paper is analysed with Masculinity wimp and Homosexual theory by C. Jewitt. Specifically, men in the film belong to the categories based on the theory of C. Jewitt. The men are illustrated as a group of people who not only feel insecure by women emancipation, but also their self esteem are threatened. Therefore, men try to get their masculinity back through discrimination towards women."

"Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkapkan representasi perselingkuhan dalam drama serial Fishbowl Wives (2022) serta implikasinya terhadap stereotipe alasan perselingkuhan berdasarkan gender dengan menggunakan teori representasi oleh Stuart Hall (1997) sebagai kerangka berpikir. Penelitian ini memanfaatkan pertanyaan kuesioner dari Infidelity Questionnaire (INFQ), metode analisis teks dan metode interpretasi komposisi visual sebagai metode analisis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Fishbowl Wives memperkuat stereotip dikotomi gender bahwa perempuan melakukan perselingkuhan karena alasan emosional, sedangkan laki-laki karena alasan kepuasan seksual tetapi di saat yang bersamaan menampilkan pula kerumitan yang berlapis di balik alasan tersebut.

This study aims to reveal the representation of infidelity in the Fishbowl Wives (2022) drama series and its implications for the gender stereotype behind the reasons for infidelity by using representation theory by Stuart Hall (1997) as the theoretical framework. This study utilizes questionnaires from the Infidelity Questionnaire (INFQ), text analysis methods, and visual composition interpretation methods as analytical tools. The results show that Fishbowl Wives reinforces the gender stereotype that women commit adultery for emotional reasons, while men for sexual satisfaction but at the same time show the complexity behind these reasons."
