Within nature based designs, there are several methods which architects and designers use, that come from different nature based issues. In this thesis, the writer describes some of those methods from year 1852 to 2013 used by a number of architects, starting from the issues that trigger them, their view of nature and architecture, the methods that are used and some design examples. The architects and designer whose methods are described in this thesis are Antoni Gaudí, Frank Lloyd Wright, Hassan Fathy, Buckminster Fuller, Victor Olgyay, Ian L. McHarg, Sim Van der Ryn, Christopher Day, Eugene Tsui, Farr Associates dan Ken Yeang. The methods are described and compared. There are correlations between issues, views and methods used. Architects views also influence how they respond to issues with their methods.

In Indonesia, trains have become a popular and efficient mode of transportation, offering comfort and speed to users. One of the main challenges in their operation is optimization, where electric trains emerge as an effective solution with low operational costs and high tractive force. A speed trajectory profile that indicates the authorized speed at each position can guide the driver or the automatic train operation (ATO) system to operate the train more efficiently. This study examines the optimization approach for the speed trajectory of Electric Rail Trains (KRL), considering energy consumption as a measure of railway company satisfaction and travel time as a measure of passenger satisfaction. Train speed optimization can utilize the Hybrid Evolutionary Algorithm (HEA). This research proposes a multi-objective method to optimize the train speed trajectory, taking into account speed limits, driving strategies including accelerating, cruising, coasting, and braking phases, as well as adaptation to track slope and curvature conditions. Additionally, this study demonstrates how the Pareto front of each algorithm generation can be used to evaluate and select the most effective operational strategy. In this research, it was found that the results of the solution obtained could reduce total energy by 21.97% and total travel time by 5.11%."

In this thesis, the focus of design research is aiming to see the architectural design process not only from the existing framework, where the design program is understood functionally based on the boundary drawing related to order of function. Instead, this design research is aiming to offer another point of view about territory, which leads to an architectural program based on territorial ordering. This thesis attempts to find out how the marking of territory works by seeing and understanding the living conditions that is formed in the context. Here, territory is linked to the socio economic context which is the interaction activity about production, consumption, distribution, investment, and trade. Implementation related to order is intended to influence the way of working and way of thinking that encourages the development of socio economic related programs with networking approach. Networking is the relationship between systems that exist in the context emerged from everyday practice and lived experience which is identified by the data information from field surveys and direct observation of context along with literature study for learning further territory focused findings. Territorial ordering program aimed at developing the architectural design program with the contribution of networking approach in order to finally use the territory as a design basis. This suggests a design approach focusing on how to create a program based on territory and how to mark territory in architectural way."
